    Good luck!

Quite cloudy here, ill only get partial views of anything high. No chance of horizon huggers... bugger..

Thanks, looking at the forecast it does show cloud increasing from 2am, so we'll see, this will probably be my last chance for this year, so fingers crossed

Hope it clears up for you.

Depends how far West they stretch... morning almost cert

Thanks, I might just head off to bed then and set the alarm, they appear to be quite bright which bodes well for later, and they're reasonably high.

Hopefully the it stays clear like it is now,  the conditions here right now are perfect

I don't do photography,I love that shot. What do you use?

Hi Chris, the photo was taken using night sight on the Google pixel 6, if your phone is relatively modern, you may have something similar, nothing fancy really, the phone/software does all the work, plus the moon is up tonight, which is providing a decent amount of light to illuminate the clouds.

Too early methinks . I’m guessing 2:30am we will see some electrification south of Bournemouth and then things will evolve quite messily towards london

Whatever happens, you look to be in a decent location, that cell that's east of the IOW and about to make landfall is heading you way isn't it? Could be a nice surprise on the way!

One thing to note, it's rather breezy here in Christchurch

They've got a long way to go, but I'll be keeping an eye on those Granville cells. Headed NNE at the mo, but looking at the steering flow modelled, I'd expect them to take a turn to the N and perhaps NNW should they survive into the night.

Definitely worth keeping an eye on them, i wouldn't be surprised if get something half decent in the early hours, however, this years storms season has been so pants for our area! makes me think we'll end up with nothing.

  6. Worth keeping an eye on the skies closer to home, it's hard to tell due to it being early but I'm seeing some bright patches to my north, way above the crud layer, might be nothing but let's see what happens.

Very encouraging for the early hours though, regardless of how the next couple of hours turn out, the weather may not play ball, I might set the alarm and have a peek outside to see if it's clear

    Edit

It's starting to cloud over so can't be totally sure but I think what I saw was just high cloud, good luck this evening to those heading out, It could be a cracker

It's been a painfully slow start this year so I'll take any kind of sighting now. The early morning display wasn't that great for me, but I don't really remember seeing them in the North West skies on both the evening and morning shows before (more NE in the morning)? Maybe I'm just getting old and forgetting previous events.

    One shot from about 11:30ish

Think I might have to find a new viewing spot too. My favoured location is getting contaminated with cars parked up all night with music, headlights and engines running. Old man rant, I know.

    Lovely photo

That looks like great place to shoot.. the scenery that is, not the antisocial D#!@Heads 😂

Sad to hear of your experience with this type of behaviour, but I also have the same problem.

The place I've been going for years has now turned into  a meet-up area for boy/girl racers, loud music, drifting in the carpark littering all over the place, the list goes on! And it doesn't feel as safe as it once was

It's a real shame, and the police don't seem to care 😤

Wednesday night's cold front has caught my eye (probably out of storm-starved desperation more than anything!)

A few cherry-picked crumbs to go by on the models:

It's nice to have something to pin our hopes on at least even if it doesn't come to anything, also I get feeling this season is going to throw up some real surprises.
