  1. Morning All, a wet start to the day currently 9.5°C which is only marginally above the overnight low..with a moderate breeze in from the WSW..an additional 2mm of top up rainfall, leaving the RH94%..
  2. Doesn't time fly when you are having fun? Somebody reminded me today that a year ago we walked out of the office before they locked the doors for start of the Covid restrictions, I wonder what the next 365 days might bring? Meanwhile will the summer bring in some decent storms as compensation for a lack of some wintery precipitation, I wonder... meanwhile, showers inbound before the next band of rain arrives..(way down in the channel at the moment)..
  3. The warmth is there for the taking, (well once the sun comes out), reaching a peak of 11.9°C at: 12:23...
  4. We've lost the ships and the Purbecks again in this mornings beachcam image .. After an overnight low of 7.4°C at: 00:00, heading for double digits already this morning, currently 9.3°C with the wind direction now in form the SW, and continued rain up until 7am this morning, yesterday picked up 19mm, and so far today another 4.6mm, that's pushed the RH figure back up to 96%..
  5. Had a few cracking spells of heavy rain today, topping things up and thawing out the frozen soil, maybe I can get out and some digging this week, now it's not so solid.. Meanwhile the decent rainfall, has dropped 5.2mm and it' still teaming down, and is topping up the reservoirs, for the summer..
  6. The during and after shots of the heavy rainfall that has just now passed through down here.. During After
  7. That's more like it, pouring rain! Something more measurable now, as Feb was beginning to look at tad dry down here, certainly compared to last year! currently 1.4mm today..beachcam shows choppy seas this morning with the strong onshore breeze..
  8. Morning All, a mild start to the day after an overnight low of 3.1°C at: 01:41, currently 4.6°C, with the wind onshore keeping things warm overnight..
  9. Yup most certainly agree and I'm way down the tree in the art of forecasting, does go to show how strong the westerlies are though, once they set their mind to it.
  10. The local rag has rescinded its suggestion of snow in the early hours, I wonder wonder why, maybe a clue is in the fact the wind in now southerly and temperatures are rising , currently the warmest its been all day with 2.3°C at: 19:09
  11. Is this not the same forecaster who last week didn't agree to the fact that the westerlies would win out?
  12. You gotta love the local rag, here's a reports view of the conditions...“Areas that see the heaviest bursts of snow could see a dusting. The main band is likely from 3am to 6am.” Wow that much aye? A empty beach today, with the onshore strong breeze it's quite choppy..
  13. The term b*gger all comes to mind, as with the rest of the winter, wrong place wrong time, wrong wind direction, wrong everything. Still it is looking cold again tonight even with the wind still around, currently -1.1°C , and falling, not bad as we can't quote "And in the snowfields it will drop to..."...maybe "In the green fields of the South West..it'll drop".. What happened to IF's suggestion of the cold winning out, few are suggesting that now?
  14. An earlier hi of 3.7°C at: 12:08, in the sunshine has now been negated as the wind has veered in to the WNW rather than the SE of this morning so now we are at 0.7°C, under clear skies, a CHANCE and only a CHANCE of the sub zero returning tonight in readiness for anything that comes our way tomorrow, failing that the ice buckets will defrost on Sunday I'm sure..AND I might be able to get a spade back in the garden as I've been using a hammer and chisel this week...
  15. HaHa, yup I've got a few of those too, and if anything like previous years when it thaws out you find pots shattered and holes where holes shouldn't be.
  16. If I had a pound for every time I've seen wxcharts over do things I'd be a rich man! Let's see if it gets this one right..
  17. Morning All, a frost free night, due mainly to the SE wind and cloud cover, with the overnight low of 0.4°C at: 06:13, currently 1.7°C...the strength of the onshore wind creating some breakers as shown in the beachcam shot this morning..
  18. The wind direction has slowly shifted to SE now, bringing the breeze in from the sea direction, moving the temperatures upwards..(well a bit) 1.0°C ... I was asked why I was still wearing shorts in these temperatures, to which there was really no direct response
  19. Overcast start to the day as "Anthem of the Seas" is joined by "Jewel of the Seas" and the sole brave beach walker out with its human this morning...
  20. Morning All, after an overnight low of -4.4°C at: 00:49, currently -2.1°C (28.3°F), Apparent temp -5.1°C, with a light breeze in from the ENE providing a decent wind chill..
  21. Meanwhile the warmer days are returning so far peaked at 3.4°C at: 11:30 today in bright sunshine..
