  1. Temp hovering between 0.4 and 0.8c for the last few hours. Should stay like that in clear skies. Pennies ate that band coming in from the NW, so another miss for Sheffield. Hopefully will clip Chesterfield. Keep an eye on that band in Scotland. Still sticking with my earlier prediction although hope to be wrong! I'll be off work in the morning
  2. That band pushing SE from the NW, may brush past Sheffield (chesterfield looking good). Again depends what the hills do
  3. Snow showers brushing through the south of our region over the next hour, unless the Pennies kill them.. Not enough to amount to anything (dusting at a best). Keeping an eye on that band of precipitation pushing south. Still think it will fragment and weaken for southern and western areas (so a little if no snow) although could be okay for East/North Yorkshire and Lincolnshire. Sleety to low levels however those with decent elevation *may* get a cm or two by morning (Lincolnshire Wolds, North York moors good areas). Some further snow possible Sunday night, albeit light. Then again Tuesday. Wouldn't go further than that (or past the weekend)
  4. Hadn't seen that. The higher res. model does indeed have heavier precipitation towards the coast. I think the North York moors could see a couple of cm's from that, although at lowers levels (i'd agree with 200m less) it could be more sleety. Inland (i.e. West and South Yorkshire) will either see nothing, to a dusting (sleety at sea level)
  5. NMM less inclined for heavier precipitation, just a fragmented band pushing south. Probably a dusting, should it fall as snow. Although given the lightness i reckon it could be sleety for most away from decent elevation (thats if it makes it). NMM been quite good for the last few events.
  6. Yeah sadly missed us, although did clip Chesterfield. Ah well plenty of other snow opportunities. Dry today with the odd chance of a passing flurry from the NW. Chance of some showers overnight and into Saturday
  7. I'm calling it a night now i think. Chesterfield the sweet spot of our region tonight. Should get a good few cms . We may get some showers later on though. Annoying how as soon as it got to Sheffield it decided it was time to go south . Still, that is weather for you!
  8. As the slow tracks to the south of us, as will the PPN. Think the first band will now miss Sheffield (the heavy stuff) although Chesterfield looking good . Thereafter who knows, maybe some showers!
  9. Seems to have suddenly tracked more south than east, so may slide past Sheffield! Chesterfield looking good
  10. Reports of some thunder in Glossop. Never heard thunder during snow, that would be an excitement First band inbound, snow reports from Sheffield within the next half hour. Dropped a couple of cm's so hopefully replicated, Not sure if that 2nd band entering Liverpool will get anywhere near us. I suspect not (perhaps Chesterfield at a push). Looking forward to the first snow reports
  11. Yes, looks as though Huddersfield could catch that first band. Thereafter it will be showers or dry
  12. Glad to hear some in the NW are getting snow, after the rain fears. Have some relatives down Preston way, i know snow can be a rarity for them so glad you're getting some
  13. Relative to what could have been, but yeah, i'll take any! Looking good for some snow showers Sunday onwards for your region Paul?
  14. Should still reach Sheffield i think, although probably only a few hours of snow. Main band to go to the south of us.
  15. Yeah, although at this timeframe i'd stick to the radar. I'll plump for 2-3 hours of moderate snow for South Yorkshire, before clearing away. Widely around 5cm, possibly more on high ground
  16. GFS 18z take. South Yorkshire the sweet spot of our region. 3-5hours of moderate snow, probably 5cm-10cm (the higher end with height)
  17. Yeah, at least is has allowed the temp to drop a little. Judging by the radar i reckon around 12-1?
  18. It seems to have sadly died! Temp dropping here. 0.2c dewpoint -1c
  19. I'd say that's the safest bet. Hopefully a tad further north and east
  20. Yeah, definitely seems to be now. You watch we'll get that a gap and then the rest will go to the north east of us
  21. Anybody noticed that streamer is starting to move a little more eastwards? Should hopefully start to hit Sheffield
  22. For Sheffield and Chesterfield region we need to see that PPN around or to the north of Lancaster as it tracks south east. Seems to have matching up to the NMM forecast now. Temp is hovering between 0.8 and 1c here. Precipitation if heavy will fall as snow. The rain reports are most likely due to the lightness of that streamer (so snizzle?)
  23. Yeah i've been watching that one on the radar, just too far north and east!
  24. Wouldn't worry about the showers fading, Pennines shouldn't really impact this 'event'
