Can't believe how dark it is here! Not much in the way of fireworks though! Thunder heard now!

Had some thundery rain around 4 am which woke me up and then heavy rain for another couple of hours, been dry since 7am but looks to be more heavy rain on it's way!

Just heard two bits of thunder coming from my SW - I guess that's the Bognor storm?

Just heard more thunder after seeing lightning around East Grinstead about 10 min - not sure where the latest thunder is coming from! See..don't expect anything and you get nice surprises!

Bank it! I won't expect anything thundery tonight, that way it'll be a nice surprise! A bit like when snow is forecast

Did he say where these heavy storms were heading for? Looking at the charts I have a feeling us in Sussex could well miss out this time round, initial storms over to our west with our Hants cousins, then later on we'll be the breeding ground for storms to hit Essex etc!

Thanks for that Frosty, it's certainly a tough one to call as to whether it stalls long enough out west till we're done! I'll keep an eye on it, I guess should know by Friday as to the timings.

So what's the consensus on the rain going through on Sunday? I've got an outdoor thing going on in the afternoon and I can see conflicting signals for when the rain is arriving!

That shower that went past here is still building and heading down SW of North Sussex, wouldn't be surprised to hear of thunder from it later!

Here in Crawley we had two hours of snow from about 7.30 this morning, didn't really settle as too wet but it was nice to see some snow falling! Had another little burst of sleety snow around 9.30. Can't see the North Downs but presumed they've got a nice covering. My "target" this year was to see some snow falling and to see lying snow, achieved both of those in cold spell, I've known worse cold spells! I remember the ones from the mid naughties where you very luck to see snow falling, even more if it laid. Back then you got one snowy scene per cold spell. In this cold spell I've seen snow fall over a number of days, only thin missing was the lying to a proper depth of at least an inch, however overall it's been pretty good

That to me sounds like they're expecting streamers to set up, for most of us that means we'll probably not see much overnight. Although the P Avery forecast for tomorrow sounds interesting for those who miss out tonight?

Haven't seen a snowflake since early Apr 13, so seeing some snow falling would make my day! Hopefully that'll happen within the next week! haha!

You could well be right, but if you're going by charts then the link given on the previous page shows plenty of showery activity of snow, based on GFS. So which charts are you basing that on? If it's just the Euro 4 then it hasn't come into range yet.

Never take any output as gospel until T6! Especially when it comes to snow forecasts, it's the hardest thing to predict in our neck of the woods! Just to see some snow falling would make my winter, as that would mean it's a 100% better than last year!
