  1. THat is clearly wrong, we are lower down than you ant its pure snow here and very bad drifting. It was more than likely fine flakes of snow blowing on a horizontal wind so you can't tell so much.

That's what I was thinking for Port Talbot if you understood my post... but never mind all.

(by the way not much here compared to some places like you Adam, hell of a battle to stick initially. Altitude make a difference)

  2. i just looked on facebook and my mate from cork in Ireland wrote at 8.47 that it was snowing there,is this the same area of cloud that we are supposed to get later?

i was going to ask him what sort of snow but he had gone off.

It's part of the same system....

But obviously conditions are different everywhere. Watch the radar and read reports from people to your south.

  3. Not really looking forward to this event... looking margin for me and West Wales later on Tuesday.

Even today West Wales temps seem a little high.

I'd rather it stay cold and dry to keep existing snow cover... temps are rising and thawing is taking place.

Snow won't stick anywhere really apart from existing snow (which won't last long if we get a wash out)

  4. It is still snowing here, we have even had a light dusting/

Same here... if it was a little heavier then it would be a whole different story. It was settling very well early and the main road has patches of snow. I've noticed that about 4 or 5 cars the snow has thawed on the windscreen :S

Oh and who is that with the red hair in your Avatar Marcus_S?

  5. We don't get paid £190,000 to make mistakes though

Okay, it's disgusting the amount some people are paid but that's just life... pathetic.

Maybe other may do a better job but forecasting isn't easy... they're covering their arses most of the time and next week can anyone have confidence at what the situation will be? no, so leave them cover themselves... it's better than not putting warnings out and having chaos.

I have experienced heavy snow and accumulation with no warnings before, that's the problems the Met Office need to sort out.

  6. Fair enough they made a mistake but as all of you know forecasting here is extremely difficult... we have to refer to these forums and nowcasting to give us some idea and at the same time using our local knowledge and even then things change and go wrong. People over at the Met Office will make some mistakes, like people in the real world do, like people on this forum do.

  7. Still snowing here i expect it not to stop know the cloud that is thick is full of it, there is alot of doom and gloom coming rom yes the South EAST and because temps have increased a degree or too on the coast this spell is over, Bollucks, of course the sea will modify it, its a WARM front what do they expect? Luckily or us it will be travelling over cool surface and the temps wont really change and they will drop of again in the south east they've only risen a raction above freezin or so and tehre is a SLOW THAW, nonsense. People are becoming to frustrated and their expectations are too high.

My expectations are not high :whistling:

Cold here, no precip at the current minute.

  8. Oh we've had light snow flurries last night from about 1-45 6o 3 o clock then i went to bed but woke up to fresh snow on glass house roof etc so must have carried on nothing spectacular and we had a continuous light flurry from about 15 past ten till now. nice  unexpected gess that's what living on the mountain does altho the bigger mountains to my north suck the energy out i still catch them as their fizzling away. What still snow lying on the beach? that's quite something.

Well the beach carpark had the snow.... and the harbour part of Llanelli North Dock (barraged off to sea) looked a bit icy I must say.

  9. quick bit of advice here peeps please

the missus wants to go up to bristol to see her mate. she's taking our daughter as well

she's on about coming back tomorrow afternoon

    wise, or not?

how bad do you think the snow will be tomorrow morning/afternoon?

bad enough to pose a risk?

    no pressure like!

Don't think it will be bad at all really. The motorways should be no problem at all unless the snow sticks for a while and accumulations beat the grit (not that there is much grit left )

Be careful and make a wise decision tomorrow?

  10. Hi mate, are we likely to see any snow as the BBC are SE biased and don't want to show snow over wales and sw?

I don't think there is conspiracy not to show Snow over Wales lol. That's a bit over the top. They're just showing whatever model and outcome the forecaster has decided to show. Ignore it and resort to this forum thread and nowcasting :)
