Meto just upgraded the warnings for wales
Haha
MetO say in their latest warning:
Outbreaks of sleet or snow will spread across Wales today with 3 to 6 cm in places and local accumulations of 8 to 10 cm, mainly over hills. Showers will likely be of rain at first on western coasts. With roads and pavements below freezing icy stretches are likely on untreated surfaces. -
Yea hope that dont happen by me because im also right by coast, I think tommorow has been a bit hyped tbh. That low is wayyy to far east as currently winds are going SE
I added a bit to my post that may cheer you up... it's snowing here so it will snow with you I bet
EDIT:
Shower easing off now... obviously not going to notice accumulation on existing snow because it was a small shower. It has left the main road dusted with snow
I hope we get a good top up later.
-
its raining in aberystwyth
Hmm well it is right next to the western coast, literally.
Currently snowing here.
-
Irish sea pepping up a bit now
Indeed, shame the heavier shower(s) will pass to our north Currently Ceredigion area
But then again maybe something will pep up to our west.
-
looking forward to tomorrow now.

The snow fields of carms and pembs, is my line ain't it!!!!
The depth map above is only as good as the precipitation falling out of the sky... so we shall have to wait and see where the low ends up. Very cold here right now.. -3 not far from the Preseli range..
 Just had to use it again :o
-
nice little flurry/light snow shower just now.. hopefully a taste of what's to come
-
Well acording to that anywhere within about 60 miles from the west coast doesnt stand a chance in hell of seeing anyting at all. Yet another non event for a lot of us,,,
woody
Don't bother looking at it, nobody knows exactly what will happen. Tonight and tomorrow I'm sure you will see some snow. Heck, the snow fields of Carms and Pembs are going to be topped up tomorrow so that chart isn't true.
-
Not stricktly true, most of carmarthesnhire/pembroke/Swansea/Northern Neath portalbot. Gwent valleys, Northern Rhonfa cynnon taf/torfaen etc already have snow cover, last time i checked they were very much in South Wales.
Very true..
I'm really wishing for a top up now.. it looked so good previously so I don't want to be disspointed with some rubbish hit and miss showers
-
Not looking good for south western wales
Chill out, I'm sure you'll end up doing fine anyway... just keep an eye on the radar closer to time.
-
Pathetic - back in my day we walked miles through deep snow to just to GET to school.
Etc.
I suppose it is over the top, but health and safety are pathetic... a snow flurry and all the school's close
When I was in school with snow events (rarely) I remember most of the time it was the teachers who would refuse to drive in so...
-
Does anyone think the system is too far east for us to see little if any rain/snow?
Looking at the radar it does look a bit nafff... but you never know we may get lucky.. the front does extend West by far so hope for some thing to pep up.
___
No college/6th form school for me tomorrow so great.
___
and what's happening in Pembrokshire? Raintoday saying snow Fishguard southwards at sea level/out at sea

Im totally confused now.
So the snow even is only for tuesday and maybe wed, but after that its a classic adlantic situation with rain returning. I am getting so many mixed messages now.
I was under the impression this cold spell was a good week and beyond into early part of next week before adlantic wins.
Whats the pro's version of whats ahead. I know about fronts comming down from the north, what happens when they have passed. Does something move allowing a more westerly wind in.
Yeah it is going to last into the weekend...?
-
Most of the reports in Scotland from our front are of rain. Scotland! If we can't get snow from this set-up we may as well give up lol.
Waw, not good for them, but it is sort of the warmest time of day and weather observation stations in Scotland are reporting snow, some rain yes but www.raintoday.co.uk should give you an idea of where that snow is, and I have to say a lot of it is snow.
-
Coldest night by far.
-11 in Sennybridge great stuff...has to be one of the coldest observations currently
-
Jack, what areas will the snow effect tomorrow?
Netweather GFS shows precip affecting all of Wales but of course we'll have to wait closer to time to tell how much precipitation and what locations will be affected the most... (and I mean closer to time as in Radar real time)
If precip gets to you Jay I'm guessing it will be snow, so good luck.
Also the further west in Wales the GFS shows the Snow risk reducing for period at 6AM Tuesday to around 50%.. I'm no expert so not sure what will happen but I'm guessing lots of places will see snow regardless.
(My location shows 57% risk at 6AM with 522DAM and -6 uppers... Air temp is 2 Degrees C but usually NW GFS is always warmer for me than the actual temp at the time)
I do however, think I stand a much better chance than previously.

The mountain forecast in the Beacons (meto) for the next 4 or five days is looking quite good with regular snow showers and longer periods of snow forecast so you never know, we may be in with a shot as long as the beacons doesn't take all of it!!!!!!!
MetO mountain has the beacons down for snow pretty much everyday... mention of snow showers everyday but mehhh.. we'll see soon what will happen
-
No warm sector at all apparent on 18z for Tues morning- a snow to snow event?
Tuesday is getting closer and closer, so far it seems okay I really don't want to be disappointed with this event.
MetO and BBC look quite 'crap' for South West Wales when I checked early this evening... I hope for some upgrades from them even though my faith is with this forum and it's members it would be nice to see snow risk from everyone.
-
Shame it had to happen the week i go back to school, cause now i will freeze in my half hour walk to school every day lol But maybe once we will get enough to get a snow day, my school normaly closes with 2-3inches so hope we get that maybe tuesday-wednesday. Is there still a chance of getting showers tomorrow night though? and are they likely to give a covering of anything? would be nice but not betting on it! temp now -1C and slowly falling.
If your school is open phone your school and ask for a member of staff to pick you up in the interest of your own safety
-
sounds exciting, u reckon that front pushing in from the southwest is gunna cause us any problems in south wales? cheers
I think it's forecast not to do nothing much apart from hang around that general area for a while? So no, it's not forecast to affect South Wales I'm afraid.

I think the best place is these forums for weather... come and read possible outcomes from members and then really watch the radar and read reports
Reading these forums and then nowcasting is what we should all do, far better than wasting time watching TV forecasts
-
Looking at the Private Weather Station outside of Carmarthen temp was -2.7 at 1930 hours and it's now currently -0.4
