Not all of us!
If not this winter, re appears next summer then, don't like the heat anyway lol

The only thing to do imo is to take extra co2 out of the atmosphere. That's is what will have to be done. I see no other way .........

I think a mild winter would be welcome this year.
Lots of days around 13-15c and sunshine. Would make up for the poor summer.
So you want to have a yr without much of a summer or winter?

Didn't believe it myself until a few days before it happened lol

No. It doesn’t get a headline now unless it’s 30c at the very least.
If they were told that one day 40c would be recorded in England I'm sure they wouldn't have believed it.

It’s the same mentality as those people who brag about working a 90 hour week.
Im always like that’s kinda sad man - when do you have free time?
People will probably think I’m lazy or a bum or something but I’ve never worked a minute of overtime in my life. I spend every waking moment of my life away from work not thinking about it and doing my creative hobbies and spending time with my family and friends.
Indeed, to use a phrase 'work to live not live to work'......

I don't know, but what is worrying are the shear amount of different anomalies happening at the moment, like the Atlantic heat, the strange jet stream, temp records low and high falling like hot cakes. Know there's more, but can't think right now. Everything is just weird, and I don't like it
God only knows what's in store for 2024 especially if there is a strong nino later this yr.

What about Churchill? 40 - 45 good for winter lovers overall. 51 - 55 probably not bad for winter lovers?? Don't know about the summers for the yrs in question.
Edit sorry should have read the question properly, if talking about the last 44yrs or so.

so what would be the equivalent historical eruption?
Mount Tambora eruption in Indonesia, April 1815? Lead to the 'Yr without a summer' in. 1816.

By judging this on GEFS 384 hours 00Z ensemble mean it leaves us in a flat westerly pattern, not particularly terrible, but not favourable either as we want the Greenland high gone.

If only the Greenland high could last all the way to march . No doubt it will be nowhere to be seen come winter.

I always think its around now the 25th of July when it starts to become that bit noticeable that the days are getting shorter.

It's interesting to think about why these two words were given for these different patterns as el Nino is the boy and La Nina is the girl in Spanish.
El Nino ' The Child' is a reference to Jesus as the phenomenon is strongest in December / Christmas time.

I find 25c too warm. Rather temperatures in summer in the low twenties then the mid twenties.

It's already been 3 weeks today since the solstice .

Whilst we struggle to lose the current pattern, the med is going to frazzle next week as a heat dome establishing this week remains broadly in situ without any pattern changes to move it on.
The heat dome can stay there as far as I'm concerned or just diminish.

?? In this day and age aren't temperatures mostly above normal as opposed to below. Just had the warmest June on record etc etc etc

I read that the IOD is forecast to go positive over the coming months. I presume that's not particularly good news for this coming winter, even if it doesn't end up as strongly positive as a few yrs ago.

If the weather is in the mood, dry and not too warm I think late summer can be a lovely time of Yr. With things winding down from the peak of summer to a more mellow feel. The golden fields etc can be a very mellow time of Yr depending on the weather.

The most humid heatwaves tend to come in August… just saying.
Can be the case but at least in August it's not near constant daylight. Hot weather and near constant daylight really does my head in, like being trapped with no escape.

While I don't want any kind of wash out this summer, I'm kinda relieved that no major heat looks likely for the foreseeable. If heat was to arrive next month I don't mind as much as by then it's more bearable and with the nights getting longer. So I feel as someone who isn't particularly fond of heat, this July is like dodging a bullet.

Haven't had a decent Jan cold spell since the first half of Jan 2010. Ireland missed out on the Jan 2013 spell. Honestly can't remember the last time I've had a decent cold spell during the second half of jan, probably back in the 80s. Since the climate is judged by 30 yr periods its like 2nd half of Jan proper cold spells aren't part of the climate for my location anymore. That's the way I look at it anyway.
