Fair play to June 13th it held out for over 300 yrs lol but in this warming climate even that record had to go.

While I wouldn't want dark nights all yr round ( not that it's possible of course) I find this time of Yr with near constant daylight a bit much. Just want to get to the 21st and go from there, that's the first psychological barrier. But 6 weeks either side of the 21st ,can do my head in, not so much the longer evenings more so the very early sunrises in particular.

There is a chance that later this week spain could record its first 40c during the month of April. Another unwanted heat record to add to the ever growing list..........

Could summer 2024 see a 50c recorded in Europe? Wouldn't be surprised, as the heat will likely go up an extra notch.

After weeks of a cold spell being talked up the whole thing has turned into a total farce. Forget winter at this stage it had its chance.

It's like this upcoming cold spell or snap has been talked about for bloody weeks at this stage. One of more the drawn out ones..........

Getting rather bored of the will it won't it get cold saga, just rumbleson and on. That combined with the fact we are talking about March cold, I wont really give a toss at this stage if we end up with no cold spell........

Interesting choice, any reason for this?
Very split month that for the British Isles, warm and sunny to the SE, dull and wet for north and west.
The first half of the month wasn't bad here. The first half overall of that summer wasn't bad. Second half of that July wasn't great but I didn't mind. Don't like Julys being too warm overall.

The last week of January is when I always properly start to notice the days getting longer. 6 months from now , the last week of July is when I notice the days getting shorter.....

March 2013 was exceptional. I would take that if something like it were to occur.
Thought it was a waste. If the cold arrived even in the first week of march that's perhaps acceptable but it was really towards the middle and second half of the month .

If its a beast from the east like the first few days of march 2018 ,grand but that's as rare as hens teeth.

2nd -3rd week of Feb unless there is a quick downwelling of sorts,...could
Well the sooner the better, don't want some meh spell in March ( if it happens at all of course ). Would be a decent enough winter I think if we could get a decent cold spell in Feb. Cold spell first half of Dec, a cold spell in Feb I would consider a win for coldies despite the rubbish since the end of the last cold spell .

Old Moores Almanac is going for light snow end of Jan and a dry and unusually cold Feb. If that's any use . For the end of the year, Cold November with early snow. Cold December with 2 more dumps of snow.......lol

HNY All, Matt keep going with the caring, one day it’s gone….gone forever. I know as I’ve lost so much since 2018. Both parents, and last 2 years so many lifelong friends to cancer…8 to be exact, to cancer….and 6 were in their 50s and early 60s. It’s mind crunching, but solace is taken for ‘being there’. My sincere best wishes to you…..keep battling
best regards to ALL

Most people I know who got and or died from cancer have been in their 50s. Apparently the 50s can be a dodgy time due to hormone changes.... one never knows what the future holds ,but hopefully a decent cold spell at some pointvthis winter. Anyway happy new year to all

Absolute fact. I implore people to look at all the years going back in the archives on meteociel to see this.
Looking at Xmas day temperatures for London from 1840 -2019 , 42 of those yrs had max temperatures in double figures ( could add another 6 if rounded off ,9.8s etc ). I didn't expect to see so many.

Jan really is like some bastardised autumn/winter month these days. I haven't had a decent cold spell during the second half of a jan since the 80s.

Temperatures in London on Christmas day. Looks like 1843 was the mildest Christmas day of the 1840s. Taken from a link from this page. The link has every temperature in London for Christmas day 1840 - 2019.
