  1. 7.8c to the 17th here, 2c above the 1981-2010 average. A rise to 8c looking likely come Monday.
  2. 7.7c to the 16th here, 1.9c above the 1981-2010 average. More rises likely this week before a possibly sharp drop next week as we introduce cooler air.
  3. Back in North Yorkshire now but here's a few pics from my MTB trip to Braemar. Yesterday we drove over to Aviemore to find some snow showers which were settling above 400m, especially on Drumnocter Pass on way home. i
  4. Must be approaching 8c back home for March so far, won't know till I'm back from holiday tomorrow night. My average is 5.8c for March so currently well above, however it does look like it may cool down somewhat and some models even predicting snow for parts of the region into next week.
  5. Morning all, currently northbound on the M74 for a few days in Braemar to explore the Cairngorms on a mountain bike with the other half. Snows looking a bit sorry for itself and not much fresh snow forecast, but on the plus side will be able to explore much higher up on the bike than normal for the time of year. Will post some pics on here this week if there's some good visibility.
  6. Just an update guys that I'm now running on a VP2 with a Vue console, should be getting the anemometer up on the chimney breast at around 10 meters in the coming weeks. Also been doing a lot of hedge and tree cutting to open up the garden a bit as I'm worried there's not enough air flow to keep accurate temp recordings at 1.5m (very high conifers in my neighbours garden to the west keep my garden fairly still on breezy days), my location will never be perfect for 100% accurate readings however I will be getting it as close as I possibly can. I'm guessing a FARS accessory may help with my "still garden" problem especially when the wind is from the west. The garden is open to North and East and sheltered by the house to the South. Any advice appreciated, CHEERS
  7. 6.3c here to the 8th, 0.1c above the 1981-2010 average. Up up and away looking at 5 day forecast.
  8. 5.8c here to the 6th, 0.4c below the 1981-2010 average. Looking at my local BBC 5 day forecast, we will see a rise in the coming days.
  9. 5.5c here to the 2nd, 0.7c below the 1981-2010 average.
  10. Firby February 2017 Stats. 11. Feb finished 5.5c, 1.7c above the 1981-2010 average. 0 days lying snow and only 4 frosts, good riddance!
  12. NMM suggests some people may see the white stuff tonight.
  13. 5.7c here to the 26th, 1.9c above the 1981-2010 average. Expecting a small drop before month end, roughly finishing 5.5c.
  14. Snow/rain line is sinking further South towards England now , @skifreak may be pleased to know its snowing in Leadhills.
  15. 2006 was a cracking summer in York, remember it well as I did my GCSE's that year so had May till September off! I lived in York from 1995 to 2011 (ages 5-21) and I remember quite a few snow events, but Dec 2010 was by far the most id ever seen at 14m asl with 30 cm of level snow. Since 2013 York has been mostly snowless and similar with other low lying areas across the region and I feel sorry for the youngsters. I now live 14 miles NE of York closer to the coast in a hillier bit so whilst I've seen a bit more snow that York over the last few winters, this winter has been yet another dire one. Ps, wonder if you remember the snow event around Feb 25 2005 in the morning?
  16. 5.5c here to the 22nd, 1.7c above the 1981-2010 average. Would imagine Feb may finish around the +2c mark.
  17. Well said, I'm armchair snowchasing from North Yorks this morning and it doesn't look like Storm Doris is causing chaos on the roads its the unequipped drivers causing the madness.
  18. York wasn't a bad place to live during the winters of 08/09 09/10 10/11, roughly 4 feet of snow from those winters and for somewhere that sits just above sea level I'm not sure York won't see anything like it again. Whilst you may have not enjoyed the warmer months in York it can actually be the warmest place in the region at times and is regularly warmer by a few degrees that the surrounding areas, especially towards the coast. The last few winters and summer months have been crap in York so you should be glad your back down south especially in summer.!
  19. Im sure you are devasted about missing a few cm's back home in Alston tomorrow and frigid temps of 0c
  20. Thank's for your reply Reef, you have confirmed what I had assumed was the case. The reason I'm looking at other stations to replace my Vue is I want my anemometer up on the roof separate to the rest of the instruments. Of course I should of realised this last October but it was bought to me as a present. I'm well aware you can buy a VP2 anemometer plus the transmitter for my Vue but I could buy a whole VP2 kit without the console for only slightly more which I can use with my current Vue console. VP2's without the console/logger etc are currently £399 and I'm half way there for saving up, I will try and sell my Vue ISS and save a bit more so eventually I upgrade and get the anemometer on the chimney.
  21. https://www.weathershop.co.uk/shop/oregon-scientific-wmr300-weather-station Couldn't help but notice this offer on this weather station that looks like the Oregon version of the Davis Vantage Pro 2. Has anyone ever had one or know any one that has? @reef@4wd@Mapantz Can't imagine they are as robust as the Davis VP2 but looks like a good deal for the full lot incl console and data logger.
  22. 5.1c here to the 20th, 1.3c above the 1981-2010 average. Cooler days/nights should slow the rise in mean temp later this week, however its likely it will finish higher than it is currently.
  23. Picture says it all really, stunning start to Sunday. Current Temp: 7.4c Overnight Low: 5.6c Rainfall: 0mm Baro: 1019.6 hPa
