  1. A dry clear start to Saturday followed by variable cloud throughout the day so far. Current Temp: 9.4c Overnight Min: 5.9c Rainfall 0mm Baro: 1019.4 hPa
  2. 4.5c here to the 17th, 0.8c below 1981-2010 average. Up up and away! Was hoping for 12 below average months
  3. Good Morning. Gorgeous sunshine in Firby this morning. A foggy start to the day but it slowly cleared by 9.30am. Currently 10.0c Overnight Min: 2.4c Rain 0mm Baro 1026.64
  4. Partly cloudy skies here with a bit of sunshine. Mild start to the day. Current Temp: 6.0c Overnight Low: 5.2c Rain: 0mm Baro: 1025.3hPa
  5. Blimey! Think I'm only about 25/30 miles from you and we had a max of 9.4c Mainly overcast today with the odd bit of brightness, cloud thickened later this afternoon with a bit of light rain. Current Temp: 7.9c Rain 0.4mm Baro: 1024.3hPa Inside Temp: 24.9c (oops)
  6. Hopefully not, but nothing seems to be going our coldies way this winter. November was a bit of false hope, 1.8c below average with plenty of frost and some early snowfall for some, especially upland areas. December was MEH, far less frost than November and hardly a sniff at snow. 1.8c above average. January by far the best winter month so far however it wasn't exactly anything special. 0.3c below average with 14 frosts and 2cm of snow. Also managed the first ice day since 2013. Feb so far is looking to finish above average, only 2 frosts so far which is shocking, during the "colder spell" last week our lowest temp was 0.9c. The fact people were flocking to 400m asl in the North York Moors to see 5cm of snow at the weekend shows how snowstarved many lowland folk are. Not throwing in the towel just yet, snow fell here on the 26th of April last year.
  7. ECM showing snow showers for many northern/eastern areas at 216hrs, much at odds with the GFS.
  8. Afternoon all, most cloudy here in North Yorkshire however the occasional bit of sunshine which feels pleasant whilst working away in a south facing garden. Current Temp: 8.9c Overnight Low: 5.9c Rainfall: 0mm Baro: 1026.4 hPa
  9. Morning, a bright chilly start with some cloud around and a touch of frost. Current Temp: 2.9c Overnight Low: 1.3c Rainfall: 0mm Baro: 1025.5 hPa
  10. After a sunny windy morning the cloud increased and the strong SSE wind eased somewhat. Current Temp: 3.2c Todays Max: 6.8c Rainfall: 0.0mm Baro: 1027.65 hPa
  11. As expected a drop down to 3.8c here today, bang on the 1981-2010 average. Rising from Wednesday onwards and with double digits being forecast can't see a chance of Feb finishing anything but above average now, but still a long way to go.
  12. Unexpected sunshine this morning has made an appearance much to my delight however the strong SSE wind is taking the edge off things a bit. Current Temp: 6.3c Apparent Temp: 2.0c Overnight Min: 3.4c Wind: SSE 10mph gusting 20-30mph Rain 0.0mm Baro: 1028.6 hPa falling
  13. 3.9c to the 11th here, 0.1c above the 1981-2010 average. Expecting a drop to average tomorrow, before a gradual rise this coming week.
  14. Mostly cloudy today with snow flurries, the latest has left a thin covering on most surfaces. Temp: 1.3c Todays Max: 2.5c Rain: 0.0mm Wind: NNE 3mph Baro: 1028.7 hPa
  15. Yes a covering at least across much of the North York Moors, and the radar keeps on bringing the showers in! Could be 10cm or more on Blakey Ridge by Sunday! Pint at the Lion Inn anyone?
  16. You've timed that trip well! I was in Goathland today visiting Malyan Spout waterfall, and experienced that moderate snow shower you did around 3.30ish, was nice to see a covering down to modest levels. I would imagine there will be a decent covering come morning if the showers continue. Only the odd flurry here but thankfully I'm only 20 mins from the North York Moors and will be spending much of my weekend there
  17. 4.5c here to the 8th, 0.7c above the 1981-2010 average. Looking at the models my next day with average or above mean is next Tuesday.
  18. Similar here this morning @mike57 Settled on bin lid, shed roof, and cars etc. We were forecast -1c overnight yet we didn't drop below 1c at all.
  19. Cold cloudy morning but not as cold as forecast, snow flurries on and off leaving a slight dusting on some surfaces. Current Temp: 1.1c Overnight 1.0c Rain: 0mm Baro 1031.4 hPa
  20. A cloudy cold day with the an occasional bit of sunshine. An odd snow flurry in the last hour or two. Current Temp: 1.3c Todays high: 4.4c Rain: 0.3mm Baro: 1032.4 hPa
  21. Had a light flurry earlier but it's too warm to settle just yet. Current 1.2c with a dew of 0.1c.
  22. Overcast, dry and chilly this morning. Current Temp: 3.0c Overnight Low: 2.8c Rain: 0mm Baro: 1028.0 hPa
  23. Indeed! What is it with this bloody Euro high this winter? A look at the NH view at day 8 shows ECM trying its hardest for high pressure towards Iceland/Greenland but the Euro high is laughing at it saying "you call that a high mate?".
  24. Conditions look better for snowfall more widely on Saturday and not just high ground on this mornings GFS. The possible event is still 90 hrs away so I'm sure there's more twists and turns to come. Here's a few charts from the 00z According to the GFS at the time of the precip arrving on Sat IMBY there will be uppers 850s of -7c, dew point at 0c and 0c isotherm between 300-400m. That would suggest a good chance of snow falling. Car at the ready in case it ends up being a 400m+ event.
