  1. Currently gusting 70mph plus in Shannon so they must be confident of a headwind with a low crosswind element.
  2. Shannon maybe, but surely flying towards the storm! Maybe less of a crosswind. Must be a fuel emergency flight by now A few other flights diverting to Belfast as well. Belfast has actually cancelled all flights so these diversions are cutting it fine before the worst winds reach here.
  3. It's normally a 2 hour flight and they're now approaching 4 hours in the air.
  4. It's bugged out of landing on N-S runway too and is going around. Must surely divert to Belfast.
  5. Looks like they're trying to land on the North - South runway after failing to land on the East-West. Crosswind will be near limits.
  6. That's some hold that. The wind is getting worse, so they'll have to land or divert soon.
  7. I just mentioned that. Trying to find a safe alternate will be difficult. Looks like its diverted to Belfast.
  8. 5 or 6 planes circling around Dublin waiting for to land. The wind is only to get worse so they may have to divert to their alternates The problem is they might be difficult to land at too.
  9. Certainly encouraging that the Met Office are holding firm with this forecast. My concern was that they would water them down or remove them all together.
  10. Might just stay in bed! Nah Jon. When we're knee deep in snow in a few weeks with bitter South Easterlies and the North Coast is dry as a bone we'll not be complaining then!
  11. Great week for you folk in the North and North West. Give me a South Easterly curtesy of a Scandi High in a couple of weeks please!
  12. Not all all. The reason most of us are weather geeks is the chasing down of rare and unusual weather synoptics. Scandi Highs in Winter are uncommon and therefore much more interesting than the usual Iceland low and Iberian High.
  13. Same has happened here. The shower band survived intact to give North Belfast a covering but has died a death as it crossed the Lagan valley. This cold snap gets 3/10 rating for providing one decent fall and a couple of hard frosts. I'm not expecting anything cold again until at least mid February.
  14. Paths and roads are like an ice rink, take care folks. No snow unfortunately
  15. Just watching ITV News there, this is Ullapool harbour right now. Can't imagine they get deep snow to sea level like this very often.
  16. Hadn't realised that included gritters. Stay off the roads then folks.
  17. Weather forecast looks really good for Northern areas tomorrow. 5cm for lower areas, perhaps 10cm in the Antrim hills. Nothing really South of Lough Neagh/Belfast Lough.
