Evening everyone Well, I have to say that the weather over the past few days has been (early) autumnal feeling to say the least! Rain over night and early on giving way to that heavy wet dampness on everything (especially the car when you get to it first thing in the morning), along with the strong gusty winds, and then followed by an afternoon of strong sunshine, but not too hot. But today I noticed a couple of steps towards the coming season... 1. I heard the autumn song of the robin for the first time this year as they mark out there feeding grounds. 2. I saw this tree!! Now I know its an Acer, and yes they do have a tendency to go very red or have red tipped leaves, but this does seem early to me... Not complaining mind. ... And before anyone says about it being stress through lack of water, that's one thing that hasn't lacked around these parts. Lol

It went very grey here about an hour ago... And headed off in that direction... But nothing from it at all. -

Hiya @Chris.R Sorry, I've been out of the loop for a week, so I'm still playing catch up. -

In the past five minutes or so, there is quite a large tower gone up over the Chester area. Although I doubt I'll see any activity today (apart from impressive convective cloudscapes), I'd say anyone North and East of Chester could get lucky. -

Just come out to clean the car windows, and I've noticed some very strong convection happening over towards the Chester area. To be honest I wasn't expecting to see that... I might go for a walk with the hound after and see if I can get some photos of possible cells developing. -
Morning @Azazel I see where you are coming from, personally I love the sights, colours and smells of autumn, it is certainly the best time of year for photography and getting out and about and just enjoying... But whatever happens, my advice to to go out and enjoy it

Afternoon @Carl46Wrexham Something looks and sounds to be brewing up the other side of the Clwydian Range as well. -

Fair play that wasn't a bad little storm. Still grumbling away in the distance. Thats two over head storms we've had this year. Its moving out now across the river Dee and over towards the Wirral. -

Morning @Justin123 and @Mokidugway Please forgive me, only I'm on two hours sleep, due to my Mum having to go into hospital, and also the loss of an animal (and I don't handle animal losses well)... So I went for an early morning walk to try and clear my head. There was an outline of an anvil(ish) cloud... Albeit very weak. Either way I apologise for posting up dud gen. And swerving swiftly back on topic... I've just seen some very strong convection, with towers going up to my south! Not the best photo in the world as it's off my phone... But if you look to the right of the tree. -
*bows* Thank you @Dami I agree... Hearty stews all the way... Plus I make a mean sausage casserole. I can't wait for autumn 2017 to get going properly.

I know it's July, but I took this photo about an hour ago... It could so easily be mistaken for September. The season of mists and mellow fruitfulness is underway.

Up and about early, and I'm pleasantly surprised to once more see the gentle mists just hanging across the fields. So today I can confirm that I have just felt, smelt and seen autumn appearing for the first time this year! Hello autumn 2017.

Well that squall line passed through here about an hour or so ago (I know as I was out in it!). Now I could be totally wrong here, but I swear that there was a flash of lightning... Just the one, no thunder... But others have also reported seeing this 'flash' but again no thunder, and also nothing has shown up on any storm/lightning radar. -

That is one fantastic piece of footage you've done there @Flash bang flash bang etc I just hope we get a storm like that up this neck of the woods, soon. -

Evening @Mokidugway Well... A mate of mine who lives in Wrexham has told me that the sky there was orange! Now we only get orange skies around here when thunderstorms are brewing... Now I know there isn't the 'umph' in the atmosphere to make it go bang, but today has give us some of the best convective skies that I've seen since last year! So I think it could be a weak anvil. Either way, it's nice to see. -

OMG!! Now I could be wrong, be this cloud looks to a massive anvil cloud! The way the sun is catching it at the moment is just stunning! -

Just walking back home with the dog, and I must confess that I'm pleasantly shocked and surprised to see a weak fluffy tower trying to go up! I wasn't expecting to see any signs of convectivity today. -

And that's that! This is the backend view as it all moves northwards (looking towards Liverpool - Manchester area). The sky is no longer flickering, no more distant grumblings from sky... But I ain't complaining... A distant storm is better than no storm. ... And before anyone asks why didn't I chase it, well it's quite simple, one I'm in work (yes it's that quiet time of year) and secondly, I'd have needed a boat, and all I've got access to is a car, a Landrover, and horses. Lol I haven't given up hope of something firing to my south later, but good luck and enjoy everyone north of me. -

Hahahahahahahahahahaha. What a good idea! Still, it's better than nothing. By the looks of it, I'd say that Barrow-in-Furness is the place to be. @Mokidugway are you in position? Lol.
