  1. Hi Rajeev, Snow anywhere from Thursday onwards is possible, keep an eye on the Netweather snow forecast map and for information on how snow is formed, have a look at this link. Doozer
  2. He he, no worries, I am suprised that winter '08/'09 doesn't stick in my mind more! Doozer
  3. 'ning MAF, I'm trying to stay rational and keep in mind that this is just the beginning of winter but it does look promising!!! Can you or anyone remember what the set up was like around this time last year? I was talking to my dad the other evening and he mentioned that last year, from the 28th November onwards it was cold with frequent frosts for about 2 months (parents live in East Essex). Now, you see, i remember a snow event early on in Oct/Nov but I don't remember the cold lasting over xmas. Cheers
  4. Welcome, It is hard to predict exactly what will happen that far ahead, although latest outputs show cold until the 23rd, reading the model output thread might help you to understand the predicted length of the cold snap, according to current model outputs. I hope this helps
  5. Nothing in MK, still around 3 degrees here with a dew point of 1.4 degrees.
  6. Hi Rajeev, Forgot to say welcome before! As in Snowkings post above, whilst conditions are looking to be right for snow on Friday, it all depends on precipitation, even if conditions are right i.e dew point below zero, temps around 2 degrees, if there is no precipitation then there is no snow. Keep an eye on the rainfall radar http://www.meteogroup.co.uk/uk/home/weather/radar/united_kingdom.html to see what is coming your way. Good Luck!
  7. It depends on a few things, where are you located? All forecasts are only as accuarate as the model outputs and snow is hard to predict even at short notice!
  8. Hi LW, It looks like sleet/snow is a possibility for Luton, keep an eye on the rainfall radar tomorrow and you will see what is coming your way in terms of precipitation. http://www.meteogroup.co.uk/uk/home/weather/radar/united_kingdom.html Good luck lol, I wonder if they make a decision whether to overplay or underplay the charts? I suppose they have opportunities to get it right throughout the day, maybe by opening a window! Doozer
  9. Yep, Look East pretty much saying raining turning to sleep tonight and snow showers tomorrow. I am suprised by the BBC's daytime temps, they seem high to me. Off outside for a look, but I think it is just rain!
  10. No, I don't think tomorrow's snow showers will lead to a covering firstly I think they will be very light and secondly ground temperature is too high due to cloud, it will take a couple of frosts to prep the ground for lying snow, that's not to say there won't be a dusting here and there (without contradicting myself). Doozer
  11. It's possible, temp, dew point and PPN depending, keep an eye on the radar: http://www.meteogroup.co.uk/uk/home/weather/radar/united_kingdom.html
  12. High Wycombe included, tomorrow BBC seem to think it will be anything north of London, south east corner dry and bright and then snow showers all week for SE/EA/EM. 4 Degrees in MK at present, dew point 1.6 degrees.
  13. BBC News showing snow snowers from tomorrow onwards for East Midlands, north of london, then another band moving across to the west midlands. Thursday shows a band of snow for the SE.
  14. It is currently raining in MK, temp around 4 degrees, pretty much what I expected. In terms of the models it is worth remembering that it is going to be cold as expected, probably turning colder from tomorrow onwards, the goal posts will always move with each run, models are open to interpretation, and snow is very difficult to predict even 24/36 hours in advance. At the least, we will get a welcome break from wet and windy westerlies, which is lovely! Doozer
  15. Chilly Milly, I am hovering at 4.3 degrees so you are not far off! Have a look at the radar, it could get a little bit warmer ahead of the PPN arriving, just a little anomalie! http://www.meteogroup.co.uk/uk/home/weather/radar/united_kingdom.html Doozer
  16. I have the same problem, my garden is walled and fairly tiny and therefore doesn't make for accurate temperature recordings, plus the front of my house is in a little cul-de-sac so all my weather station does is tell me the temperature inside my living room window as that's where the sensor has lived since february! According to my weather station, it is currently raining in my living room! You could try fixing it further up the wall of your house, also, have you searched for nearby weatherstations online? I use 3 in my area and make my own assumptions based on a number of factors. Doozer
  17. It seems that the first noticable drop in temperatures will occur tomorrow, so for now we are all lingering in the 3-5 degrees zone, which with all that we expect to experience is positively balmy!! Oh yes, there is no doubt that rural locations at higher altitudes could well receive something along the lines of wet snow (sounds more exciting than sleet) but it will be a teaser at best. Doozer
