  1. Oh what a beauty of a day again. A little cloud late morning but otherwise very warm or hot (in the sun) when sunbathing and the wind drops! 5th day of brilliant sunshine here. Strolled round Pendennis Castle too. What a perfect day and a perfect week - Im still loving it as each day passes here, especially when the sun is out. Cornwall looks to be one of the best places to be for the sunshine this week and very healthy pleasant temperatures!
  2. If the CFS is anything to go by, June is possibly going to be a really good month overall. Briefly slightly more unsettled in around 10 days time but it seems quite persistent on good Azores ridging beyond that for much of the rest of the month!
  3. SATURDAY: SUMMER HAS ARRIVED! 14-17c Cornwall's Forecast: http://www.cciweather.co.uk/#/cornwall/4573724902 Channel Islands Forecast: http://www.cciweather.co.uk/#/channel-islands/4573977985 112 Followers @kernowweather
  4. Im very impressed with the charts too. Strong heights seem to be willing to push in across Europe generally and keep reinforcing. No sign at all of any Atlantic muck. I havent seen these charts within a summer month for years!!! Long may it continue and may it restore some much needed faith in our summers! This is the one guys...
  5. The moaning is excessive in the Midlands thread. Dont forget the Midlands is on the whole a lot drier but its inland position means it gets all the cruddy convective cloud whereas I dont! In fact ive seen more clear blue sunny skies this year so far then I have collectively over 5 years probably!!
  6. Oh days like today, really make me want to stay down here even longer throughout the summer. Dont want to go back to the Midlands in a couple of weeks time but should be spending part of July and most of August here!
  7. What an absolutely cracking day. Non stop sunshine and very warm. Must have been near 20c. And the forecast is clear blue skies for the next 5 days at least. Cornwall is going to be one of the sunniest from this spell
  8. 4th day of warm sunshine here and today will be very warm with 18-20c expected here on the south coast!!
  9. Very pessimistic post. On the whole I think theres a fair few more than a 'few' days of fine weather. Maybe a few showers next week but it seems clear to me that unless theres a fat 1030mb high constantly over the country you will never be happy. The Gfs 00z Op was an outlier for pressure at the end too with all members and even the control going for higher pressure. I recommend all members take a look at the ensembles before posting misleading comments.
  10. 3rd day of warm sunshine here. Today is 100% clear blue skies whilst the rest of the country suffers with cloud and rain. Been so lucky here.
  11. I love the Midlands but these summery charts of the Azores ridging in make me so happy to be in Cornwall right now. Being on the coast too should really limit any cloud build up but even the Midlands should suffer too bad. But were expected wall to wall sunshine from today until the forseeable future with temperatures 15-20c! Beach time! SUMMER IS HERE FOLKS, AND SOME OF THE CHARTS NOW ARE THE BEST IVE SEEN IN SUMMER FOR YEARS!
  12. Seeing the Azores ridge in is something of a major rarity in recent summers and thus im very encouraged to see even into FI of the GFS that there are signals for more sustained high pressure and maybe fresh ridging from the Azores. Until now we have seen just a massive circular fat high stuck in the Atlantic but the charts suggest decent heights and the 18z even rids any trough worries for most of next week. Really really encouraging charts. Dare I say some of the best summer charts ive seen for some years.
  13. Oh what a horrible day here. Rain and cool and breezy. But days like yesterday and Saturday make it all worthwhile!
  14. Could this thread be perhaps more steered to discussion about 2013 not other years? Surely there is another thread for this?
  15. I know, what a gorgeous weekend weve had. It seems absurd its going to rain tomorrow (Monday). Sunday has been one of my favourite days so far in Kernow, spending the time on Swanpool beach in Falmouth then treated myself to Rick Steins Fish and Chips for dinner and a lovely walk back home. Beautiful day. BANK HOLIDAY MONDAY: Rain for Kernow. Sunshine for Channel Islands but clouding over later. Max 15c for Jersey. 16. No it doesnt look that bad at all as far as what I can see with the potential for a pretty good end to the week!
  17. Christ, that really would feel it was just Britain being singled out from Summer. Its really worrying actually how we are just constantly being sent these ghastly low pressure systems. As ive said before, worrying for future summers if this one turns out as rubbish as the last 6.
  18. Was a very pleasant afternoon and evening here in Falmouth. It seems so much easier to get the sun out here than it does back at home. Compromises for the otherwise slightly cooler temperatures.
  19. Christ almighty the charts look just as bad if not worse than last year. If this summer ends up the same as last year, Id say we are generally screwed for some years to come if this really is down to Arctic sea ice etc but im hoping there must be more to it than that. Im hoping its a combination of the wrong reasons at the wrong time i.e low sun activity as well. But there is nothing more depressing than seeing generally low heights in the Arctic yet still seeing low after low suddenly dive SE and attack the UK. Fair enough, France, Germany, parts of Scandinavia are also suffering a bit too but High pressure is just sitting there in a big circle with no motivation to ridge at all. Very bleak prospects id say.
  20. WEDNESDAY: Cloudy start for Cornwall then Sunny spells. Sunshine for the Channel Islands too! 12-15c Cornwall's Forecast: http://www.cciweather.co.uk/#/cornwall/4573724902 Channel Islands Forecast: http://www.cciweather.co.uk/#/channel-islands/4573977985 105 Followers @kernowweather
  21. Reading these posts, im glad it looks like im spending most of my summer ahead in Cornwall! Sunshine is actually easier to grab hold of here. It may be a bit cooler but the sun makes up for that. It seems a lot easier here for the cloud to break up!
  22. Yes quite muggy out there today though mostly cloudy but some sun. TUESDAY: Cloudy start then sunny later for Kernow. Cloudy for most of the day for the Channel Islands. Muggy for some again. 12-16c. 23. Much sunnier than forecast today! Pretty much the whole weekend has been non stop sun after some cloud this morning!
  24. Bit of an exaggeration about today there Conor. SAT24 clearly shows youve enjoyed sunshine too. But just to rub it in, weve had 2 days of pretty much wall to wall sunshine here. hehe
  25. I find it disturbing in the sense of how low pressure is really anchored to NW Europe at the moment and the last lot of summers. High pressure just cannot make its way in. This is a decisive summer IMO and another cool and wet one could set the tone for some summers to come. Who knows but even though there seems less northern blocking presently low pressure is still spawning around us like the winter vortex. Depressing how the only really cold uppers are just directed straight at Britain and no where else. It's the same story of the last few years. Everywhere else generally enjoys whilst we suffer under cool weather and frequently wet.
