  1. Well the above is not the case here. If the MO symbol forecasts had been right it would have been cloudy virtually every day since about last Sunday 13th!!! Far from it and about half of the days since have been brilliant. A rather mixed spell. All days have pretty much been either very sunny or very cloudy. But a good 4 or so days where the symbol forecasts way overestimated the cloud amounts here. Some very pleasant early spring days. I am fairly pleased with this high pressure spell. Can't complain for March here.
  2. Usual story of symbol and even graphic forecasts being way way way too pessimistic with sun amounts. Good in a way that it makes us pleasantly surprised but not good for the tourist industry. How many people decide to change plans and stay in etc because the forecast is cloudy but the reality is often sunnier!
  3. Forecasts have way overestimated cloud again. A lovely sunny afternoon now and very pleasant.
  4. Warm uppers? They are +4 or +5c at best at the 850 level. More average. Horrible grey cloud all today with mist and fog this morning.
  5. An absolutely gorgeous day here. Lighter winds generally today here. Really pleasant. A great week so far.
  6. Monday and today have both been sunnier than expected here so I wouldn't be surprised if other days this week follow the same way. Not everyday of course but so far we are doing quite well I would say.
  7. Not sure it will be as bad as you say. Sunny spells forecast all day here at least. Maybe different for you though but I shall say be prepared to be pleasantly surprised.
  8. Another beautiful day today. A few clouds at times but the sun stayed out pretty much the whole time. A little breezy in places too but otherwise pleasant again.
  9. Unless your up in the highlands or Pennines, I can't see -4 to -6 uppers cutting the mustard! More cold rain for most especially at this time of year. Net result is to deliver nothing really of what people want, coldie or mildie! Familiar tale of recent years. The cold to our north around Svalbard just has not been there this winter sadly. Having said that a white easter would be interesting, if not perhaps my personal favourite preference at this time of year (especially hard when we have some of those first sunny warm spring days now!) but some coldish uppers/low heights could at least make things interesting convective wise. However, a swing round of winds towards the North/NE currently does look a fair shout as the high looks to move west somewhat but not becoming very unsettled as the block looks fairly resolute for a while. Long way to go yet before Easter is decided firmly though warm probably not. White Easter? Possible as with just about anything but some luck in pulling down some really proper cold uppers (sub -8c or even -9c) would be ideal!
  10. As usual the symbol forecasts were far too generous with the cloud symbols for here this morning. Yesterday cloud was forecast till about 12pm today yet it has been sunny from pretty much the word go. Expect similar outcomes later this week although still a bit cloudier on the whole.
  11. I thInk April has become just as high pressure dominated if not more. Hope when you said about more high pressure than average you meant around March/April only. Lol. Goes missing in all other months except maybe September/early October too lol. its a glorious day today and tomorrow looks as great though admittedly it looks like getting cloudier through the week though maybe improving next weekend again? I always notice symbol forecasts are too pessimistic with cloud amounts though. Often a forecast with loads of 'white cloud' or 'light cloud' symbols means there will be sunny spells or at least bright.
  12. Ahh cannot get rid of the quote above. Anyway, an absolutely glorious day here. Wall to wall sunshine and I'm having lunch outside in the sunshine I between cutting the lawns out the front and back. Cannot beat the first warm spring days of the year. And it feels like it ha arrived on time this year.
  13. Now enjoying lunch outside in the sun in between cutting the front and back lawns. Even wearing shorts. just cannot beat those first proper warmSpring days.
  14. What a stunning crystal clear blue sky day. Really really pleasant in the sun. Time to cut the lawn!
  15. Yes a pleasant day here. Even with it being fairly cloudy late this afternoon it still wasn't too bad thanks to very light winds. Really shall enjoy this dry spell. Sunday especially looks a cracker. Will be giving the lawn it's first cut of the year on Sunday too. Such a contrast to the flooding that hit our area a couple of days ago!
  16. Had a bit of sleet earlier but the main story is the appealing road flooding around here. Especially between Bromsgrove and Kidderminster, many of the main roads are flooded badly. Side roads chaos with traffic and more flooding.
  17. Too cloudy down here at the moment but is your view of the northern horizon good and are you free of light pollution? Would love to see it here too but seems a bit far fetched being in an urban/semi urban area although my view to the North is fairly dark albeit with the horizon mainly obscured by trees.
  18. Quite possible! Aurora reported in North Wales and Norfolk!
  19. It is worth following what may happen on Tuesday and Wednesday. Tuesday looks like it might bring a little sleet/snow in the morning as a weak band of ppn looks to cross our patch of the world. Wednesday is more interesting as a secondary disturbance branches off a main low in the Atlantic and deepens towards the UK. Critically it has a southerly track and if it could go a little further south, we will remain on the cold side of the low and this could being a spell of heavy snow for a time. One to watch as it seems to be an event which could catch people out. Doubt it (why would our luck change now lol) but who knows!
  20. Had a few flakes and a hail shower earlier about 12.15pm. Really looking forward to those first thundery plumes now though. Cannot beat seeing natures power and fury as per the thunderstorms last 3rd July. So intense that really inspire a sense of awe and wonder.
  21. Sorry if I misunderstood. Not been feeling to well recently so been reading quite fast to try and catch up on things. I suppose what if anything turns out as good as originally modelled with our weather. Lol. Agree to an extent perhaps the best of the temps look a little less widespread now but nothing unusual to see. Mid teens should be quite achieveable in the sun though and certainly it should feel very pleasant. I'd be stunned if it's a cloud fest, particularly as the high looks to set up shop very close to us or even on top of the U.K. Maybe cloudier at first though as the warm uppers override cold sea temps.
  22. Cannot remember 20c ever being modelled? In fact not even 18/19c. 16/17c has looked the max to me all along? By the way I always find the symbol forecasts overdo the use of cloud. If it shows light cloud, good chance the reality is actually sunny spells or at least bright.
  23. Had further snow here around 7.30-8.30pm. Left a light dusting on the cars and grass.
