  1. Will make evening socialising outdoors far more enjoyable. Perfect on warm evenings for a couple of drinks after a long days work whilst the chiminea burns and watch the sun set. Heaven.
  2. BST is nearly here. Oh you have been missed. 8pm Sunsets close now.
  3. Excellent day and not too hazy actually. Nearly 19c here!
  4. Not to be taken literally of course but NMM going for some pretty high CAPE values especially for relatively early Spring on Monday for the Central/West Midlands. Lightning Wizard suggests Equilibrium Level temperatures wont be very low though on Monday? Could be a problem?
  5. NMM model going for some pretty high cape values on Monday afternoon/evening. Infact some very high figures for relatively early Spring imo! Does have a plume feel to it this albeit not in the sense of heat but in the sense of warm sunny days and the risk of late afternoon/evening thunderstorms. And the wind direction is perfect for the Midlands, especially the West Midlands in particular.
  6. Next week looks like a very early plume type scenario. Warm in any sun and on some days the warmth generating some heavy slow moving thundery showers - the Midlands and parts of the west and CS England look at a particularly good shout for this. Perfect
  7. Glad I could be of service bringing the storms back. And as promised I'm bringing the warmth too. Looks like extended it for you too next week
  8. Currently at Taunton. Quite dark skies maybe associated with incoming storm from the East though looks like it will hit a bit further north than here.
  9. We just had the one bolt but my it was extremely powerful!!!
  10. Indeed, anything E of South usually works very well for the Midlands. However I cant really remember the last time storms were almost tracking pretty much directly from the East! Quite rare!
  11. Had an extremely close lightning bolt here in Falmouth about an hour ago. Think it struck about 20-50m away. Can I bring back the thunderstorms too tomorrow?
  12. Random solitary lightning bolt struck here in Penryn about an hour ago. Seemed to strike the university campus. Instantaneous thunder and I think it struck only about 20-50m away from me! Never been that close before! and not sure I want to get any closer!!!
  13. Random solitary lightning bolt struck here in Penryn about an hour ago. Seemed to strike the university campus. Instantaneous thunder and I think it struck only about 20-50m away from me! Never been that close before! and not sure I want to get any closer!!!
  14. Back in the Midlands on Friday! Delighted to see it will warm up too on my arrival! Im bringing up with me from the South and keeping it until I return to Kernow in May!
  15. Hi there, For my dissertation project on ENSO and its impacts on river discharge in western Europe I am in need of precipitation data to help link the patterns observed. Like this from the Met Office: http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/climate/uk/stationdata/shawburydata.txt I ideally need monthly values from 1950 and this is easily available from the Met Office but can anyone help me with links for data from France and Spain or any other Central/Western European countries. Cheers.
  16. Haha Nick. Buggar off. Youve had your fun for this Winter... or not  Last night the very last bit of light hadnt faded till almost 8pm!
  17. Yay! The good days are coming. Why celebrate a feeble northerly at this time which just brings some cold rain or a little sleet at best for most? Warmth and sun please now.
  18. Oppressive? Come on thats quite OTT, cold lover or not!
  19. Thunderstorm just recently passed North Worcestershire it seems.
  20. Indeed some major ramping going on for this weekend which really just looks cool but chilly in the wind for most. Cold for a time in the North yes with a few cold rain/sleety/hail showers. Woooooop... how exciting.... Give me back the sunshine and warmth and dryness which importantly we still desperately need. Thankfully it looks like the Azores High could keep making some regular appearances with Summer perhaps looking good so far too.
  21. Hi WM I'm on the maps but in the version you create can you please move me to Falmouth please.
  22. What pleases me is that the Azores High is showing willingness to ridge over the UK and move to the East now and again. In the 2007-12 seasons that seemed completely impossible. I think we are setting up for a traditional summer at worst and could be rather good again.
  23. Looks like the south wont see too much unsettled weather at the moment. Longer term, it looks like the Azores is happy to continue ridging in. Bit more unsettled up north but for us down here, more warm sunny days at times. GFS admittedly doesnt look great but probably not too bad and will be watered down any deep low pressures I suspect.
  24. I would take last July with open arms Milhouse. Id love 30c+ but if you can get more sunny, hot days 25c+ through the July 2013, route I would take it! CFS certainly keeps trending above average temperature and pressure wise.
