What a waste of cold it will be too conor, same dull dreary rubbish then
-
Not sure why the gloom today, ECM 00Z brings in much fresher cooler atlantic air next week than today and Friday, temps back to where they should be and feeling chilly in the wind, great to see these charts in early November if you ask me.

it might be far worse than last year it could be milder and drier this winter, imagine it being between 7c to 15c every day in winter,
although it is still only october im beginning to get annoyed now i want to see some chilly/cold weather in November but there is no sign of any cold synoptics on the models
it's 19c right now which is about 7c above average, we certainly won't see temps 7c below average in late april, yet people moan about how this country is cold/cool for most of the year, it's the biggest myth in history
I'm annoyed too, not that I want weather that cold in late October I just want temps around average for the time of year and nights around 5C or lower, its definitely not a cool country anymore, I think the warmth is totally out of control for us and that temp records warm ones will be broken regularly in the next 50 years.

Just shows you never think sunshine is guaranteed this late in October, from this point onwards warm SW'ly airmasses bring alot of cloud into central and western parts, can't say I'm surprised to be honest, best chance for sunshine is with cooler airmasses.

Thanks Steve for all your hard work, i'm hoping for the cold signal to persist so we at least have 6 below average months to make up for most of this years warmth.

According to Stan Collymore winter is here, yes he just said that on Talksport, 14C------->

Wednesday and Thursday looking not too mild on recent GFS runs with temps not far from average.

To people getting excited over GFS 06Z, lowland snowfall is very rare in southern UK in the first half of November, you have a higher chance of snowfall in first half of April.
-
Yet still dark by 6 pm when most commuters get home.

Correct but it's negligible.
For instance, a month after the earliest sunset, here in Manchester, the sunset time is only half an hour later.
At last someone tells truth, as you say its a very slow process especially mornings here in the midlands, mornings not much lighter in late January than late December, warmies always hype up the slightly lighter late afternoons early in the year but most people don't notice it until the clocks go forward in late March and people can have a few hours of light after 6 pm.

In the midlands, the sun feels strong almost all year long, even in the first half of November/ second half of January it feels warm, it does markedly cool down by December though and by Christmas the sun is very weak, but the window for that is very small from like late November to late January if that.

Are you wanting some proper autumnal cool weather as we near November.
-
Horrific charts for next week, 20C looking likely in a very warm southwesterly flow, I can't be the only one thing absolutely sick to death of this and it is far from normal on such a persistant basis, you may get the odd very mild day in second half of October but not most days for weeks on end, seriously very concerning and people expect a cold winter, yeah right, more chance of Man Utd suddenly becoming world beaters.

Wow what a change from warm southerlies yesterday morning to cool northerlies on ECM.
-
8.1C, another mild month, think above average could go on for alot longer yet.

Very unsettled next week, improvement from yesterday as if its going to be mild it might as well be wet and make it look at least autumnal.
-
Notice Ian isn't around when the past 8 months have been incredibly mild, he only cares about winter mildness it seems.

Long nights are pointless when its this bloody warm all the time.

http://www.wetterzentrale.de/pics/Recm2402.gif - Exceptionally warm end to October likely, maybe 20C reached in the SE and more daily CET records smashed.

Yes 18C+ daily CET's in the second half of October are very normal Scott
The weather is far from normal with horrid tropical airmasses staying over us week in week out with only the odd fresher day.

Also of note, the latest a date for a 17C+ daily CET is October 11th (1978).
So yesterday (18th) pretty much smashed that record then.

Super boring weather at the moment and most of the forums are extremely quiet its driving me mad.
This super mild is driving me mad, people say its too early for cold well its too late for the kind of weather we saw yesterday it should be a fresh 11C/12C by day by now and 5C at night.
