  1. LOL what washouts, very dry year here so far and this week hasn't delivered much showers for mid warwickshire. Have to say this is an extremely silly thread by the OP, of course decent summers arent over.
  2. lol the weather will do what it wants whenever it wants, no point in moaning about it constantly and to say Dec is the best time for cold synoptics is ludicrous, abit like saying June is best for warm synoptics when its not. Isn't there a moaning thread for you two
  3. In mid warwickshire near to this river in a valley that has it's own microclimate and records very cold mins all year round, it is quite incredible how cold it gets there, i took a thermometer with me and placed it 2M from ground and it was showing readings of -17C, i kid you not, if you dont want to believe it then fine but i know what i saw and it isnt faulty either, it really felt very very cold, i guess you are naive enough to think the weather stations that cover the UK are the be and end all of temperature recordings, think that narrowly if you want., i'll continue to post temp readings i get in that valley it is only a mile or two outside of a large town so the contrast is incredible. No i have better things to do than post just for that, i guess you have plenty of time to wind people up with your repetitive HP moving in posts in model discussion, zzzzzzz, everybody is fed up of it.
  4. Just been looking at tonights output and it looks fantastic for some low minima next week especially later in the week with slack cold northerly flows.
  5. Widespread air frost last night in many parts of england and wales, i got readings of -6C in isolated spots whilst driving, the countryside is much much colder than these weather stations which tend to be in built up areas. http://www.weatheronline.co.uk/cgi-bin/cgicurrentgraph?CEL=C&ART=kartealle&LANG=en&JJ=2012&MM=04&TT=06&TIME=0500&TYP=temperatursyn&KEY=UK&LAND=UK&CONT=ukuk&TIME=1333751104
  6. Yes i'm forgetting about cold daytime temps and concentrating on the nights, in April the nights can rival even winter, last night saw a very hard frost in rural valley areas, i recorded -17C in a local river valley :o...absolutely beautiful morning it was with a full moon lighting your way, fantastic and i recommend people go out for walks very early like 6 am when temps are at their coldest this time of year and feel some real winter like cold, i love thick hoar frost in the morning
  7. Dont think next week is looking as cold as people think or as unsettled infact, some places could miss most of the heavy showers and be very pleasant, nights will be cold though.
  8. Temps looking like reaching average values next week and with slack low pressure it will feel warm in any sunny periods, definately not as cold feeling by day as yesterday and today have felt but with clearer skies temps will get down to near 0C in urban areas and below 0C rurally.
  9. Too much cloud around last night for air frosts but tonight looks like air frosts could be recorded widely.
  10. Only just scrapped a max of 4C today(2C/3C for most of the day) and plenty of rain with gusty cold winds, feels very raw and completely different to this time last week. You won't get much colder feeling days than today in the midlands in April with no sun at all, even below average for winter.
  11. Charts looking nowhere near as good for us central/south midlanders of a few days ago, the risk was high then of snow now everything is further north with the cold air being modified by less cold air for us, BBC showing temps of 8C tomorrow just south of Birmingham and some showery rain around, best chance of some patchy snow tomorrow evening as the cold air digs southwards but i wouldnt count on much. all very disappointing to me, would of loved to go hill walking in the north cotswolds and seen my first snowfall there in April for years and years.
  12. Well i think GFS 06Z is pretty bad for warwickshire tomorrow with temps much higher than on recent runs, not taking much notice of it though as the faxs are better.
  13. lol ECM 00Z doesnt or does GEM 00Z which show HP staying out west, also GFS 06Z is excellent showing the front stalling over the central midlands southwards area giving very long lasting snowfall and temps really surpressed on wednesday.
  14. Chance of snow early wednesday morning for central areas, temps on wednesday could be upto 15C colder than last wednesday in parts :o
  15. I like sunny days but it can get annoying at times when driving when it blinds you at times and it can feel very warm in the sun early afternoon this time of year in open countryside so cloud does block the sun and make it more pleasant for walking though of course landscapes looks crap when its cloudy and much better when sunny with clear blue skies so my favourite time to walk in clear blue skies in April is early evening to dusk when the sun is weaker. It is pretty sad to stay indoors when its cloudy, shouldnt let the weather control you like that.
  16. Some forecasters talking of hard frosts mid week with temps down to -6C, i assume they mean officially so god knows how cold inland valley areas will be :o Easily into double minus figures i would think. :o
  17. Yes felt very chilly this morning but it cleared to leave a very pleasant afternoon with a nice refreshing breeze. GFS 12Z shows the chance of some heavy prolonged snowfall for the midlands especially hills early wednesday morning :o http://www.wetterzentrale.de/pics/Rtavn1144.png http://www.wetterzentrale.de/pics/Rtavn1142.png http://www.wetterzentrale.de/pics/Rtavn1141.png http://www.wetterzentrale.de/pics/Rtavn11417.png
  18. Watch out gardeners for this weekends air frosts and especially mid next week , could be some local date min records challenged.
  19. Perfect week of weather if you ask me that sadly has to come to an end, lovely low humidities and perfect clear skies in the daytime, strong sun and lovely clear cool starry nights, actually can wear a jacket after 6 pm when the sun weakens the dryness of the air is so pleasant, couldnt do that in the summer evenings under the same setup
  20. Very dry air this week that has prevented any fog at all even in rural prone spots, some mist around in valley bottoms but thats it, indoors it feels very pleasant right now, not that warm at all.
  21. Well GFS 12Z definately brings the risk of wintriness for the north over easter weekend into early week.
  22. Warmth in March is great as its very pleasant like this week has been and not hot and humid like in the summer(this week unlike what the media says is not a heatwave), nights long enough to prevent hot and sticky sleepless nights too. Lots of people walking around in shorts like its really hot so am looking forward to nice cold weather like the models are firming up on for next week onwards. April is colder than October on average so its a good month for cold synoptics, mins actually rival Novembers believe it or not.
  23. I'm not sure of my largest dirurnal temperature range but yesterday must of been close to the largest, 0C minimum and 21C maximum. TBH it doesnt feel that cold indoors in the early morning even though it gets down to around 0C night to night must be the effects of the strong persistent sunshine between dawn to dusk really warming up rooms exposed to sunlight.
  24. http://www.meteociel.com/ukmo/runs/2012032712/UN144-21.GIF?27-18 - UKMO 12Z looking like a much better transition than GFS 12Z.
  25. Yes i too don't mind rapid change arounds, quite interesting to have big contrasts week to week, just a shame the weekend is looking like a torrid transition from very warm afternoons/cool by night/beautiful clear skies to cooler but still mild cloudy weather day and night instead of crisp cold sunny weather, still a mid atlantic ridge so something possible down the line in April but i wouldnt hold my breath.
