  1. In towns and cities temps are holding up well in mid evening, 14C in coventry, lovely for sitting in the garden though dark still great for looking up at the stars, some quick cooling from after midnight though as temps fall to around 0C by early morning. http://www.weatheron...TIME=1332859405 - 21 00 hrs. http://www.weatheron...TIME=1332859610 - 6 00 hrs. Countryside much quicker to cool of course and much colder by early morning.
  2. Only just read these posts so i'll reply now, Well i've been busy this week until today, yes fog wasnt as bad as i thought BUT there was a nasty accident on the M5 this morning due to dense fog so it still has been a problem the past few days just not as widespread or persistent as last week, sorry i cant forcast fog 100% correctly but i dont think anybody can. This week the HP cell mid week was in a slightly different position to what was first shown with more of an easterly breeze which we all know will prevent fog, this weekend into next week HP will move more directly over the UK so the fog risk will increase, it will clear though much quicker than last week in inland areas, some thick patches might in isolated rural spots be more stubborn to clear though. Well if you've ever read my posts you will see i do alot of walking in the cotswolds so why would i want weather that isnt good for doing that, i hate when the countryside is a mud bath its horrible for walking, i probably enjoy the outdoors more than the warm weather fans do anyway, i am not going to post everyday when the weather is nice, simple really.
  3. Dewpoints are mild today so even out of the sun it doesnt feel cool at all even the nights lately in built up areas havent beeen that cool either, that could change from sunday night onwards though as i feel as HP moves more directly over us with a slightly cooler feed of air from the continent getting into our HP cell.
  4. 18C quite widespread today. http://www.weatheronline.co.uk/cgi-bin/cgicurrentgraph?CEL=C&ART=karte&LANG=en&JJ=2012&MM=03&TT=24&TIME=1330&TYP=temperatur&KEY=MID&LAND=MID&CONT=ukuk&TIME=1332598332
  5. The sun has failed to make any appearance until late afternoon since sunday here, by mid march the sun is strong so even if we get arctic air it will feel warm in prolonged spells of early afternoon sunshine, in conclusion sun amounts no matter the airmass are the determining factors to how warm it feels in march unlike in early winter months
  6. LOL must of been the longest cold snap ive ever known as the cold SPELL lasted for two weeks starting end of January, the past week was cold in the midlands with fog persisting all day in parts, some warm spell that was the worst in living memory for the midlands and other parts of england.
  7. Can anybody explain why fog is being so persistent in central areas of england this week? In rural areas around here the fog is staying pretty thick all day, i just dont understand it as its mid march when the strong sun usually burns it away by afternoon, days are as long as late September now and i can never remember fog staying all day then.
  8. Yes similar here apart from saturday was mild and cloudy here, tuesday it didnt clear at all though and not sure abuut today as it doesnt look like lifting at all, im classifying it as a cold spell since monday with each day getting progressively colder here, impressive faux cold spell for so late, its the spring equinox next week.
  9. http://www.wetterzentrale.de/pics/Rtavn062.png - Daytime maxs today have in no way reflected what this chart shows, easy to think that would bring maxs into the late teens but that wasn't the case at all with many places slightly below average today with a cold night , the coldest of the week tonight. Be nice if someone who was ramping warm would do the honourable thing and just admit that chart above didnt deliver anything near what they thought it would today, people were going on about 20C. It is quite remarkable to think it feels cold now with 850's that warm and that temps will get down to near 0C even in towns and below in the countryside, it looks a toasty chart.
  10. Low cloud/mist has cleared in the past hour but temps are dropping like a stone, feeling very chilly with the weak sun having no impact at all, going to be a cold night tonight with air frost a definate in low lying countryside areas, could be some freezing fog by morning.
  11. http://www.weatheron...TIME=1331743584 Aaron, its been cloudy and misty in the vast majority of england since monday, look at the temps at 16 30 hrs because of cloud being very slow to clear not allowing enough time for temperatures to rise to mild levels only places near coasts are anything approaching mild, lots of places especially rurally are slightly below average today, if you feel its been sunny for most of the day in most areas of england then you are simply delusional and a liar plain and simple, lots and lots of people are complaining its cloudy and cool, read the net and see for yourself.
  12. Yeah whatever a horse called man(what a silly name btw), if you bothered to read other peoples posts you will see lots of people are disappointed in the weather this week apart from sunday, its been a widespread problem cloud cover, mist and murk and has been very slow to clear in most areas of england and wales if at all, so i'm wrong just because where you live is mild and sunny, ok if that makes you feel better. More cloud under the high next week looking likely. http://www.wetterzentrale.de/pics/Rtavn1744.png
  13. So does anybody think any strat warming might be on the cards later this March into April? Looking like a blocked pattern developing on GFS 12Z and some ensembles are pushing HP further north and east so a nice bit of strat warming might help down the line.
  14. Maybe we should open up a settled but cold thread up, here are temps as of 16 00 hrs. http://www.weatheronline.co.uk/cgi-bin/cgicurrentgraph?CEL=C&ART=karte&LANG=en&JJ=2012&MM=03&TT=14&TIME=1600&TYP=temperatursyn&KEY=MID&LAND=MID&CONT=ukuk&TIME=1331741781
  15. Yes i agree with all this and its good you are more wary than some who are again ignoring past and current circumstances and blindly calling it a warm sunny high again. Just one point i will raise with you and that is i dont think one week will make that much difference to solar output, its only a week or so, if it was 3 to 4 weeks later than yes it would start to make a difference.
  16. Depends really which model is right, i would say ECM 00Z would deliver a cloudy high again because like this one it has a sw'ly flow initially bringing in alot of cloud, GFS 06Z looks a clearer high to begin with so cold frosty nights but then as we pick up easterlies the risk of cloud comes back again, anyways we would be very unlucky to have the cloud as persistent in midlands areas as this week.
  17. Deja vu for next week conor http://www.wetterzentrale.de/pics/Recm2401.gif
  18. Yes misty dark here too and feeling cold, temps of only 7C in warwickshire today, still foggy in valley areas too, feels like a cold foggy day in mid November. Yes such synoptics are wasted this early just like cold ones would be in mid September, March is a better month for cold synoptics than warm, vice versa for September where it can still get very warm.
  19. Looks a lovely and warm high doesnt it for today, reality is so much different. http://www.wetterzen...cs/Rtavn122.png Like i said last week an inversion set up at the surface, check out dewpoints pretty chilly even in afternoon. http://www.wetterzen...s/Rtavn1210.png Good to see some have learnt their lesson as in MD you will notice not much mention of warmth even though models are starting to firm up on another anticyclonic spell from next tuesday. Good news as HP loses its grip, the breeze will pick up from the southwest and with some mixing involved it could get quite warm on thursday with more sunshine hopefully, not guaranteeing anything though.
  20. A very small minority more like, its very misty in most areas of the midlands, southeast and north today even our resident HP lover is under cloud cover. Temps are below average Peter in wide areas of england and under all that mist, fog and cloud it feels anything but mild.
  21. LOL check this web page out and read the comments below the main story, some are hilarious http://uk.news.yahoo...-173741333.html
  22. Thread title should be changed(i know it wont though), not warm anywhere in the midlands area, temps around average for mid march slightly below in rural parts with fog. http://www.weatheronline.co.uk/cgi-bin/cgicurrentgraph?CEL=C&ART=karte&LANG=en&JJ=2012&MM=03&TT=12&TIME=1430&TYP=temperatur&KEY=MID&LAND=MID&CONT=ukuk&TIME=1331565043
  23. So you're looking forward to more overcast weather radders, everybody around here is wearing coats, i guess you have a short memory as it was pretty cold March 3rd to the 5th. ps just saw a lady not old wearing gloves just now, only weirdo's wear shorts in weather like today, you will get very funny looks from people if you go out in public like that, so scruffy wearing shorts walking around town in public too.
  24. In spring 2012 thread i said last wednesday this,
