  1. It's not the sun, it's the clear skies that, come night time, allow any heat to escape. Edit - as per That ECM's answer.
  2. Exactly the same here today. We drove up to Glastonbury yesterday under similar skies, but with only intermittent very light snow. It was cold enough in the town, but the wind at the top of the tor was biting. Needless to say, we didn't hang around up there. The warmth of the pub was much more inviting.
  3. Too right. There are still loads of midges around as a consequence of all this groundwater.
  4. Ha. Just flicked Russia Today on. They're interviewing dear old Mr Corbyn.
  5. Meteociel have extensive archives. http://www.meteociel...=0&map=1&mode=0
  6. It's been raining here, five miles south of Salisbury for a couple of hours now. It was a bit sleety before noon. I'm assuming you're up north (of Salisbury)?
  7. Rain has just arrived here. Edit - now with improved sleetiness.
  8. I'm not sure there is any correlation there. It could just be that in a generally poor year, we cling on to any lengthy sunny spells that we do have and remember them fondly. Anyway, as AWD says, a promise of more settled weather to come after tomorrow which will be gladly received. Then maybe another shot at something colder late next week. In other news, Alexis changed her map locations tonight. Check out us Downtonians. How do you like those apples Fordingbridge?
  9. Just went to let the chickens out 15 minutes ago and it was snowing. Still going now. Looking at the radar, we're very lucky. It's heading towards the New Forest atm. Edit - It's stopped now. A nice surprise all the same.
  10. Yep, looks like we've had our fun for the day too, but I'm happy with that.
  11. Still coming down heavily here. Next door but one's Thatchers are pressing on regardless. Gary the Peacock doesn't seem that impressed though.
  12. Big fat flakes for the last 15 minutes, just south of Salisbury. It's trying to settle.
  13. A break from the DIY to bring news of sleet south of Salisbury.

08/02/13 Spot the heron competition. 1st prize has already gone.
  15. Apologies ClevedonDave... No, it's not the end. There's still too much uncertainty up to T+48, to worry about what's going to happen over the next month or so.
  16. You never know... This wasn't there for Central SE this morning (noon tomorrow). Yes, it's just leading edge stuff turning to rain and still might not happen, but it does demonstrate how we can't be certain for Sun/Mon this far out.
  17. Yes, I know the series, I remember watching it as a lad. It was beautifully shot. Bob James and Chris Yates were the anglers. The 2nd part of this one (~3:47 in) http-~~-//www.youtube.com/watch?v=hp1w-cljHrM was filmed on the Longford Estate waters, which pass by about 500 yards from where I am now. Lovely to look at and walk by, but I couldn't afford to fish it.
  18. Yep, have a coconut. Yes, near the bakery, if you know it. Thought they'd probably be young trout. Cheers.
  19. Looking out on such a dull scene now, it's hard to believe the day started like this. Spot the heron to win a prize. Half an hour or so later down the track, Downton's resident black swans came to see me. On the bridge looking down. I'm assuming they're small brown trout, but Cerneman will probably know.
