  1. All that hair he has aquired might be impacting his judgement Just catching up - some outrageous ensembles from the 18z. Starting to feel all 2018 - surely the MJO is playing a big role here?
  2. Still waiting for it to be lit - the SSW seemingly put it out.
  3. It was the nearest with the event today. Hoping it will adjust South to bring the SE into play.
  4. Think there won't be much on it by then though. We got around 1-2cm here in Purley but it is thawing fast now at 1.5c. Managed to build a snowman, but pretty pants total wish.
  5. Not often you come in here of a morning and see such wonderful upgrades! Usually more like you've taken the beer goggles off after the 18z.
  6. Thanks Tamara - I agree, but I love a little drama. I certainly didn't mean to talk you down.....I have the upmost respect
  7. West Surrey downs. I'm near riddlesdown here (10 min walk up the hill).....I shall be paying a visit tomorrow afternoon as it sits around 170m.
  8. So..... anyhow want a game of deepest depth recorded? I'm going for 14cm in the North Downs.
  9. Yes, but it would be a much duller forum. The ups and downs make it better in my opinion, wanting snow is like supporting a league two club....disappointing most of the time but you get the occasional high of a cup run and a giant killing!
  10. I usually find she sits on the fence like the pros in all honesty. I don't doubt her knowledge, but I'm all for people sticking their neck on the line and making a big call in plain English
  11. Exactly the reason why I have blocked this member. It could show a raging blizzard at +24 and he would still be moaning about something. It is the model thread, so we can discuss whatever model or timeframe we wish to and draw our own conclusions. If people want to go back to the ceefax days and just see things two days in advance then stick to the met site and stop viewing this thread. Anyway, I'm fairly optimistic. A couple of possible snow chances the next few days and then a short milder spell next week before things could start getting colder again from next weekend. A couple of models keep showing an Easterly in early feb as a possibility, with the ECM for to hit this range soon....so it will be interesting to see if we see tentative signs from this model as well. Could be similar to 2018, once it showed and all models picked up, we gradually counted it down with only a few hiccups thrown in.
  12. Yep, only flooding (150mm of rain) and some heavy snow over Scotland.....nothing to see here. It is blatantly obvious the impact the SSW is having, just look at the N. Hemisphere charts, we are just not having much luck with cold that is all. As Chino said last night, the wheel of fortune is still spinning and hopefully we will get our turn soon.
  13. That will likely fail again. I don't trust the QBO, something looks to have changed recently with it.
  14. As a northerner who lives down in Surrey, the winters are rubbish snow wise.....but my god the summers are a million times better!
  15. Think you need to repost your images my friend. Either that, or it is so complicated the models have given up.
  16. Does it ever have much momentum. The MJO appears to have been in the COD for most of the last few winters with little high amplitude events in any phase.
  17. Yes, trends have been better this morning. I think we're so programed to only expect downgrades that we forget the opposite can occur.
  18. That is true. We are not looking for day 10 changes though, we need them at day 4 / 5. I feel this has actually counted down ok, the problem is it has been gradually downgraded as it has come closer. If what we are looking at now had been at day 10, we would have probably downgraded to mild and very wet.
  19. Yes, but if I can't make a snowman or take the kids sledging then it may as well rain. Let's see.... fingers crossed.
  20. Perhaps an hour or two tops, but I don't expect too much to settle. Nice to see, but given it will have been a distant memory by lunchtime, a touch pointless.
