  1. @Griff sorry to hear that! I'm sure she had a brilliant life with you and is up there trying to avoid going out in the snow!
  2. So the lack of a stronger Atlantic jet is killing our cold spell and leaving us in a west based NAO no man's land? You literally couldn't make this stuff up. We are cursed here in the UK.
  3. Yes, not great. Starting to think it will just never happen now. Everything gets watered-down in semi-reliable. Does make you question why the ECM and GFS go beyond 144 as they're never on the money. Let's hope it is just a blip
  4. There was a patch of -8c for about a day - hardly a fantastic upgrade. This feels like another great looking synoptics but poor 850s saga. I am being a little IMBY, bet as a SE member who has seen sod all bar the odd frost for three years, I think I have every right to be.
  5. Not to play devil's advocate but we heard the uppers will get colder mantra with the lead up to the last cold spell and they didn't. In regards to -8c uppers, has them last week and got 36 hours of rain. I'm quickly learning that only -10c guarantees snow.
  6. Not sure I want to risk downloading that! You are not going to ask me for Bitcoin?
  7. We have already established these heights are not going to magically disappear and may not hamper the cold depending on where they are moved too. I am not sure why you keep offering the same commentary on each run. The Iberian High is not going to be magically replaced by a trough.
  8. Not sure, yes it was in the models but it was shown to be much longer than will actually end up being the case. The milder spell has consistently downgraded.
  9. In all fairness some of us have not seen snow for over 3 years. I'm looking for something memorable, not some 2c toppler slush fest. ECM would previously over amplify - have they tweaked the model to dial this out??
  10. It was the star of the show 4 hours ago with its 127 layers. It could have picked up a new trend..... who knows.
  11. 00z downgrades - was not expecting that Let's wait for the 12z runs later, morning usually always starts with a bump.
  12. Given the lower resolution, surely the ops are ahead of the game in all situations?
  13. Madrid is at 650m altitude and continental. If London had that altitude, we would get snow frequently every winter.
  14. Sounds lovely - just pick somewhere with a little altitude. I couldn't live there personally, the summers are wet and pretty dreadful.
  15. Yep, SE is rubbish for snow. Only positive are the improving summers.
  16. 00z runs always start the day on a downer. Let's see, UKMO has not been great recently and the ECM still looks like it could go more GFS.
  17. Ian, you're too specific at such range. I admire how much you put into such forecasts, but you cannot forecast with such accuracy at that range. I've yet too see one of your forecasts come to fruition.
  18. Thanks Ian. Given your previous long range successes, this is very encouraging
  19. In all fairness when they show snow it never happens - feel there is more chance when they show nothing.
  20. Ignore day 10 if showing mild, believe day 10 if showing cold because it is trending that way.
