  1. That might be ominous for the UK if it's cold and snow you're after.
  2. Foggy, but signs of the blue sky beyond. Relatively little rain last night, which is good.
  3. I think the PV arrived in NE USA yesterday and dropped a foot of snow!
  4. With Scandinavia and Eastern Europe less cold than normal, does that mean the UK's cold will come from the north?
  5. Similar here Bish, very foggy early, but just a light frost. Fog now lifting and some hazy sunshine evident.
  6. For only the second time this winter, the temp at the 30HPa level appears to be approaching "average" for the time of year. It would be nice to see this shoot well above the average curve, and preferably as soon as possible since we are now half way through winter. http://ds.data.jma.go.jp/tcc/tcc/products/clisys/STRAT/html_e/pole30_n.html
  7. A completely dry day yesterday! Another lovely frost this morning. Yeah!
  8. Car covered in ice this morning, and all the windows had condensation, even those double-glazed, presumably because the temp fell so rapidly in the last couple of hours. Actually have frost on the grass and the temperature is just below freezing at -0.3C. That's frost number 7 for January — not too shabby. I guess they are looking for snow that is a dead cert, not borderline?
  9. Have we had a cold front go through, it's getting colder here? Temperature dropped from 4.5C at 8 this morning down to 2.6 at 10.30. There even appears to be a slight frost on the grass now. Very odd.
  10. The awful thing is that CFSv2 has been forecasting February to be at least as wet as January for several weeks now. Dismal.
  11. Some lucky people around last night. Nothing here, not even rain! However, we do have frost number 4 on the trot, so I'm happy with that (although I would have much preferred snow!).
  12. Consider yourself lucky Conor, most of us don't want more rain. Seemed to have escaped the rain so far here too.
  13. Third frost in a row! One ground frost and 2 air frosts.
  14. Ground frost here this morning, and a good air frost this evening. Currently -2.8C.
  15. The much maligned CFSv2 has been consistently predicting a milder and wetter than average January and February. http://www.cpc.ncep.noaa.gov/products/CFSv2/htmls/euPrece1Mon.html http://www.cpc.ncep.noaa.gov/products/CFSv2/htmls/euT2me2Mon.html
  16. It's not as mild here as it was pre 2007 winters. We've had a fair few frosts, albeit, just one lasting all day in shaded areas. The issue is not the mild day, but the lack of cold at night. When we don't get a frost, then it's generally mild overnight.
  17. A good frost here again, which has frozen the muddy ground. Think I'll get the dog out for her first walk before it thaws. Temp -1.0
  18. Ground frost here since 2100hours. Hopefully an air frost by the morning.
  19. States doing very well for snow, but look how far away the snow is in Europe! Will it ever reach here I wonder.
  20. CFSv2 keeping winter temperatures above average through January and March, and keeping us wet too! http://www.cpc.ncep.noaa.gov/products/CFSv2/htmls/euT2me2Mon.html
  21. Calm and dry(ish) here now. After a fantastic start with frost and ice, a dank, damp day with heavy rain and gusty winds late afternoon.
