  1. Hmmm, I would have thought it was cold enough to be straight up snow It can hold off if that's the case!
  2. Yeah, pretty much a full covering still but the sun definitely chipped away at the depth! Glad it clouded over a bit - can't sniff at a full day's snow cover down here! How about your way?
  3. Yeah, get that feeling too. Think whatever falls will be wintry given the timing, but can't see them holding much if anything!
  4. Question is, will the showers intensify or will the Beacons eat them up? Assuming they may stand a better chance than the main front, which will dissolve well before it makes it back down south?
  5. Well I stayed up most of the night to see it coming in, and then almost missed the fun of it by sleeping through the morning. Here's a few snaps from my walk arpund Bassaleg (just outside of Newport.) Chuffed with a couple of inches (not often I get to say that ) and just hoping those showers stay south as happy to not risk rain! Be amazing if this is just our first course before a memorable end to winter!
  6. I like the look of the way it wraps around. Be nice to see that happening about 50 miles further west!
  7. Everything looks so good so far, but it seems like this is coming out of the blue (no embedded cold etc) so won't be confident until it's happened
  8. Banking this now so each and every one of us can all go make a nice Sunday snowman. 4 hours-ish of snow for all of Wales according to the ICON...
  9. Well a fortnight ago, I was full of optimism about our chances through January - but really we should have known better. The way models have trended and look going forward, we're now probably waiting on some sort of further stratospheric impact, otherwise this could end up being the most frustrating winter in a while - was it Feb 2012 there was an easterly that seemed to just stop at the border? So close, but so far. Still, least it looks like the north and east of the UK are in for some fun tomorrow and Saturday. Not jealous. Not jealous at all.
  10. Yeah, it wouldn't have hung around, but there could have been some impressive minimum temperatures out there given Friday looks like our best bet as the coldest day in a couple of years! Anyhow, I'll stick with my gut and say we still could - if things fall in to place - come out with something special from this winter. Even though it really is on a knife edge! All we want is one good snowfall a year!
  11. You did to be fair Keith! I was more optimistic for some reason. Fingers crossed for last minute changes and / or some more joy come the end of January.
  12. I think those a bit further south (Cardiff, Newport) may be in with a shout with the small shower passing south of Ross-on-Wye - looks about 10 miles further south. Although it'll probably be sleet or rain if it doesn't decay by the time it arrives! Other than that - that's me done for tonight. This week there'll be lots more shots though by the look of it. Hope everyone that's had a bit enjoys it - should stick around at least!
  13. If it's any consolation, it wasn't really worth the wait here Just nice to see the marginality reducing - hopefully some better luck to come. Never know with the clump that's left Birmingham - seems to be dropping again slightly - and that looks like it would hold better!
  14. Yeah, was all snow Eased off again but gave enough of a sprinkling to add to the rooftop frost!
  15. Right, you lot can have this bit currently over Monmouthshire, then Newport can have the lump over Birmingham later
  16. Well something's just been falling here according to the car's windscreen... but I saw no flakes...!
