Morning all. A very muggy and warm night, however the temp did drop off just about enough to not hinder sleep, was actually rather pleasant upon awakening. We’re currently sat at 22.5C, so a very warm morning. Without the sunshine today, the temperatures will certainly be pegged right back, I can’t see 25C been breached. A few spots of rain, too. However, most of it is just evaporating before it reaches the ground, radar echoes do not match with what’s falling. I fail to see where the promised 30C in the SE is going to come from today too. I’d be surprised to see it, the satellite picture is a mess with overcast skies right across our country, coast to coast. Next weeks temperatures now are looking like probably the hottest we’ve ever experienced in our small portion of the planet with highs peaking around 36/37C on Monday. I’ve only ever experienced 40C once and that was in Mijas, mountainous area around Benalmadena and that was exhausting WITH the promise of a pool to jump into. Gonna go grab an AC today, it’s worth it.

Competition: How hot is it going to be?
Backtrack replied to Paul's topic in Spring Weather Discussion
40.1C - Kew Gardens -
Same as others, a cool night I think. Everywhere is quite wet from the dew. The sun will make quick work of that, though. Expecting 30-32C here today if the clouds manage to stay away. It’s a shame tomorrow is looking so poor, it was originally looking like the best day. Instead, met office text forecasts call for cloud and drizzle!! As nice as yesterday and probably today is, I still can’t really be happy with it. It’s not really a hot spell, more like a ‘let’s take a look at what you could’ve won’ summer blip. Warming up again next week, but cloud amounts just look baffling. Fronts able to move in when the high is situ, just makes it a dirty high. Yesterday with N winds was fantastic, more of that please!

Finally, a real summer's day. 27.5C and wall to wall sunshine, hardly a cloud in sight. Tomorrow looking like more of a hazy affair, but still going to max out around the 30C mark. Next week is looking sweltering. Not many times can you say that 30C sounds relatively cool compared to what is being modelled!

Left a few bits out in the garden overnight. It’s rained which certainly wasn’t forecast. Clear blue skies is the forecast today, but yet AGAIN!!!!! It’s currently cloudy and it’s quite cool. I’ve not brought a jacket, which is clearly a mistake. This summer is absolutely awful, what does it take to get a bit of sunny & warm weather? Even the heat next week is looking like it’ll come with overcast skies. I need to move to Florida.

Yup. It’s been such a poor summer, even in the grand scheme of things. I thought we were well overdue a good one, and that this summer might be the one. Absolutely not. A waste of time and excitement looking forward to it all year. Hope so Paul. It’s been quite a similar theme for days on end now. It’s like we’re stuck on repeat. Poor & windy through the day, clearing skies after tea with sunshine. Bit late to dry the field for sports day at 1:30pm though!

Looking like a really poor spell of weather coming up to be honest. The met office doesn’t have a single sun symbol on their forecasts for the next 7 days. That’s so depressing for July. I’m starting to think that we aren’t even going to be seeing any hints of the fact that it’s summer. Runs this morning hinting that the high pressure could flatten and be replaced with yet more northerly winds by week 2. Where’s the sun? The warmth? Summer, what’s going on? Starting to feel quite depressed with the lack of sunshine.

Model Output Discussion - Autumn arrives
Backtrack replied to Cheshire Freeze's topic in Forecast Model Discussion
Can I please ask a question here. I have been a member here for years, and so so so many people discuss ‘poor in the north west, fine in the south, wet in the north west’. Where is the north west that people are referring to when discussing? I live in north west England, are you referring to here? Or the north west as in Scotland?! -
cloud readily burning away, a forecast maximum here today of 26C, yet it’s already 22.5C as of 9:15am. There’s no way we aren’t hitting 30C if the cloud stays away. Maximum power (almost) UK sunshine and a very warm Spanish airmass. Today is going to be a scorcher. Just need that cloud to stay away!

A day of a small amount of sunshine, copious amounts of cloud, and torrential showers with hailstone. When is our summer going to arrive? My plants are struggling in the garden with the lack of sunshine. I think it’s an actual joke. It’s depressing me and there’s no nice weather on the horizon really. The chance of a dry day on Friday, but thereafter always the risk of rain in the forecast. May & June are my favourite months and it looks as though I’m going to be looking to July for summery weather. August rarely delivers anything of note, I class that as more of an autumn month here, sun is weaker, days are shorter. Hate it. Come on summer. We need you this year.

Recently moved house and accidentally left my weather station's sensor in the garden. Gutted! So unsure how cold it was this morning. Sun has just gone behind the clouds for the first time in days. What an exceptional March spell of sunshine this is turning out to be, I absolutely love it and it's the best possible way to come out of a super poor winter. We haven't had any of those cold, cloudless days and harsh sub-zero nights this winter. Looks like the end of the sunny spell is coming early next week, and I am really hoping that the cold spell modelled for the beginning of April absolutely does not materialise, it's just pointless. Could get close to 19 or even 20C tomorrow, let's see!

Today is a reminder that spring is almost here. Warm sunshine and clear blue skies. i think it’s a reminder that after our seemingly never ending stinkfest of a winter, that the people of the UK simply can’t take another poor summer. Come on, can we at least have one proper season this year. We need it.
