  1. 18Z is a snowfestttttttt .. .. For everywhere except NW England, it's thrown in a warm sector. Couldn't make that up.
  2. Great upgrade. Ties in with the NMM, although Fergie himself has said they don't use that model.
  3. The problem for me lies to our west. Usually, fronts like this have a habit of dying a death as they move past the Welsh mountains. We'll see. But up to now, it's looking great.
  4. Ah unlucky, just didn't have the persistence! Tuesday/Wednesday looks dodgy on the BBC graphics BUT, on the NMM. Steve Murr would become the man with the crystal ball. We'd be the sweet spot: I hope this comes off, and that we're on the right side of the decent uppers. We'd be buried! 15-18hrs of continuous, moderate snowfall.
  5. I've PM'ed you the login A period of light to moderate snow for one hour here. A lovely surprise! Usually get nothing at all from a northerly. Stuck on the grass and where it was iced over, but that's it. Nothing on the paths etc. Did it stick properly further north in St Helens? Currently 0.5C and feeling very cold. Drove to Frodsham just now, a little more snow there on the ground than here, but less snow falling.
  6. The company I write forecasts for has the full subscription so I don't use my radar anymore Tweet me and I'll give you the user and pass. Moderates now here now. Class.
  7. Do any of my fellow NW'eners need a NW Extra sub? I have one spare
  8. Radar shows moderate echoes above. Lamppost says no.
  9. I wish I knew. Without any solar input all I can think of is it's due to the shear amount of moisture in the atmosphere. It's not anaprop, it's snowing here right now.
  10. Peter, kinks in the isobars aren't shortwaves mate. There's kinks all over the flow currently!
  11. There's one in the North Sea, they're causing the showers. It's interesting this though, they're forming over the land. Shows how much moisture there is in the atmosphere at present.
  12. Nothing. There isn't a shortwave anywhere... There's a low in the North Sea producing showers in the east.
  13. Hello Luke, Yeah we also had the burst of snow this morning, followed by a spell of rain as the cold front moves down from the north, a very weak one but it's introduced much cleaner, more snow-supportive air from the north. Well with regards to Tuesday and Wednesday, I wouldn't like to call it just yet. The NMM is flipping back and forwards between dryness and some rather juicy looking PPN, the Met Office call light sleet and nothing more for a few hours, the GFS gives us precipitation but with milder uppers as a consequence to go with it. If I had to guess, I would say we'll see a period of transitional snow, starting off mainly as rain at our level, then as the heavier stuff moves through it'll turn increasingly wintry. But until the Met Office come on board (right now they expect the front to fizzle out a lot before it even reaches the east of Northern Ireland). But we'll see. Snow in the next few minutes here, so let's concentrate on that firstly.
  14. That second line has my name on it! Could I get a dusting?
  15. It's about 5 miles too west, which is annoying haha!
  16. The air feels much colder than earlier too, it's 2.7C right now, when earlier it was minus, and it felt much milder.
  17. 0.5C here, gonna be a cold one tonight if the cloud clears. Unlikely right now with that low ruining things in the North Sea, feeding in cloud.
  18. It just started to turn to snow! And then we ran out of precipitation 0.4C, few flakes falling. Ah! There we go, moderate snow falling. Beautiful
  19. Raining here too, haha! 0.7C, DP -1C. Uppers -6.6C at T850hPa
