No heatwave here and no normal pleasant spring weather either, just another day of cloudy, damp, cool crap.

Dry and sunny as yet ,dry , infact very dry and moisture free. Almost dusty in it's dryness...
Like still being on your hols Moki.

Damp and misty again this morning, never mind the sunshine was nice while it lasted and at least the urgent parts of operation fence paint got completed.

Yeah good win for you again. You could still catch Arsenal.
We still have to play them at their place and after the stuffy wins they have enjoyed against us over the last few seasons we are due some luck.
somehow though I don’t think anyone will dare spoil the script of what could be Wenger’s last home game so 7th it probably is for us then.

Fantastic day in both the weather and football. Would’ve been even better if “pleasant company” had won the national and earned me 40 quid.
Warmest day of the year, max 17.3°C.
Same here with the first two although I didn’t bother putting a bet on so the national winner didn’t matter either way to my pocket.

must be cooler in evenings then, sun off room by 2pm, facing N is the hottest in the evenings, sun on room from 5pm
True but the bedrooms are practically in the roof space so it doesn’t cool down much overnight.
we’ve lived in this house over 20 years now and during hot weather regularly get upstairs temperatures of over 28c.
its nowt that a good shower won’t sort though and as someone who likes warm weather a price worth paying.

How do you sleep at night (and I mean that literally)
On top of the covers with the windows open.
TBH our house faces south east and is like an oven in warm weather not that we get much of that up here.

Still looking good for weds onwards next week, just hope the warmth lasts into next weekend. It'll feel even warmer than it shows though, we've only been above 10*C a few times this year, maxes this past week have been 6-8*C. Temps into the 20s plus humidity is going to feel extreme!
After the last few months I can’t wait for some heat, even if it comes with humidity.

Opened the curtains to same old cloud, dank, drizzle and this is supposed to be the better day of the weekend.
just hope the improvement forecast for later on arrives otherwise the fence painting is on hold again.
-
Another disappointing day, wet morning with a dry spell during the afternoon and then the usual 5 o’clock return of low cloud and drizzle and a maximum of 9c.
as for the weekend, it looks like a game of two halves, better on Saturday before more wet, miserable weather on Sunday but temperatures do look to be on the rise so hopefully not to perishing sat on the football.

or I could send my fence and paint up so you can do it in your desert part of the region.

Mostly a decent day though some rain now ,fence painted ???
Can I have your fence if it’s been painted.
4 panels at 4 ft will do for a start.
-
Slightly better than yesterday in that it way dry and cold rather than drizzly and cold.
never mind though, the drizzle has arrived just in time to stop me painting the fence for yet another day.

Its one of those days where it's cloudy and claggy on the ground, but get up in a plane and a couple of thousand ft up you're already breaking into crystal-clear blue skies with uninterrupted sun. Next week is looking more promising though with temps of +16'c forecast.
Flown into Manchester from holiday many times and can hardly remember when there wasn’t annoying cloud over the region.

The conditions that denied me snow have worked and kept off the rain , not all bad ,lol
Yep I shouldn’t complain really as we did ok from the snowy easterlies but this stuff is crap and certainly not the fence painting weather I wanted.
anyway a glimmer of hope from Di Ox showing dry and steadily warmer over the weekend and into next week.
it can’t come soon enough for me and my heating bill.

8c and the third day of drizzle up here.
technically mild and it’s only April but yuk.
never mind though at least there is the promise of something warmer in the coming days down south so at least we can sit in our lower teens and cloud while others enjoy the first period of lower 20’s and beer garden conditions.

It's nice cycling in the sun and you can really feel the warmth and then the wind has to gust and ruin that warmth making it feel like winter instead of spring
It’s certainly felt like winter here.
got to 7c but even the sunshine had no warmth to it.

Any chance of some warm weather, i’m fed up with winter now
off to North Yorkshire coast for a couple of days over Easter and would love shorts and t shirt conditions but I suppose i’ll settle for anything less than full arctic gear.

Still a few flakes coming down and a bit of blowing snow but nothing compared to earlier.
Pretty impressive stuff while it lasted though

To be fair, you were only a whisker away from the amber warning area but you were inside the yellow. I thought the metoffice warnings were fairly accurate to be honest, especially if the wording was read carefully.
The problem is that the warnings are based on probability of impacts and although I can understand it not being extended during the dry afternoon yesterday, the snow set in here at about 6pm and it’s been pretty well constant blizzard conditions since.
It’s the failure to not react and extend as conditions deteriorated overnight that I don’t understand.

BBC forecast shows the snow clearing shortly but there are still some pretty bright radar echoes across the South Pennines so another couple of hours may yet be on the cards.
one thing is for sure, the Met O underestimated the snow IMBY with us comfortably outside of the Amber area throughout and yet most local roads either blocked or virtually impassible

Yeah a lovely start to the day and then the chance of it going out with a bang later.
IMBY i just hope that the storms stay away until this evening so I can get a decent days work done in the garden but after the poor start to spring so far, the last few days have been fantastic and certainly a welcome bonus.
