Always enjoyed posting in this thread as it seems relaxed compared to the majority. Suppose so, we've got snow from 10pm until 3pm tomorrow apparently.
I think someone in the NW may hit 20cm+ on lower ground.
Cheers, we try and please.
good luck later.

Have a good day all, enjoy the snow. I'm guessing the Pennines are going to get clobbered today and tomorrow.
It’ll probably get rough on the roads across the tops later i’d imagine.
Pretty well everyone going to see something from this though and it looks like your part of the country is going to get some substantial snow later today and overnight.

Dry at the moment but we’ve got a slight covering of snow from overnight and the radar shows the showers within touching distance of this side of the Pennines.
The wind is the biggest issue at the moment though, maybe not just as violent as last time out but very gusty all the same.

Neither am I, I haven’t been and so are mine, hopefully in that order.

Remember it well mate, I was 16 at a house party which turned into more of a pi#sed snowball fight street party (pretty sure it was 96 anyway, I was pretty pi#sed like).
We got about 6 inches of snow during the afternoon from that set up along with a fair bit of drifting.

Yeah I know :-) it’s only on static display though not actually on the railway itself this time.
True, there was one in the station pulling carriages but Flying Scotsman seemed to be the centre of attraction.
back to weather though and why are the BBC regional weather forecasts so bland and uninspiring.
is it the graphics, is it the presenter or is it just the fact that they aren’t convinced that anything remotely interesting is going to happen.
personally i’m not bothered about any more snow this season but after missing the worst of it last time around I think that i’m going to get a bit of a dumping this weekend.

Flying Scotsman was at Rawtenstall station on Saturday when I called into the well known German supermarket near there.
certainly a lot of people about then but no doubt tomorrow’s snow will keep it quieter.

Don't think it will be as good as last cold spell for snow I'm not in the warning areas
I don’t want snow this time, a cold dry sunny weekend will suit me to get some outside jobs done.

I wanted spring warmth and not a return to winter cold but if it offers a rest bite from constant rain then i’ll take it.

That can wait till April at least! That said, today looks to be a decent day to be getting out and about. However, roll on the next round of snowstorms next week! I'm still very much in winter mode I'm afraid.
We get snow in April most years up here, usually only in showers and short lived affairs but it’s a long slog from October/November through to April and when the longer daylight hours arrive I just want the warmth to arrive with it.

Looking good for another Easterly blast from next weekend. With the sun gaining ever more strength, there could be some decent convective cloudscapes and hopefully some hefty snow showers aided by increased daytime heating.
any chance some warmth and sunshine, I must be getting old but this has seemed like a long winter.

Looks like a West is best sort of day.
here it’s snowy lightly with the slightest of a covering but for those of you seeing the heavier stuff.....enjoy.

Wet sleety snow falling.
i never thought i’d think this but.

I think you‘re far enough North to miss the heavy precipitation.
For you first time this winter I want to be far enough north to miss it but Di Ox showed it crossing me.
oh the irony

Salt and pepper tofu for me
Everyone to their own I suppose but tofu, what a waste of salt and pepper.
meanwhile back to the weather, this is one snow over high ground event I want to miss out on but no doubt it’ll dump itself IMBY.

Looking like another snow event tonight for members in the east of the region with altitude 200m+ according to Carol on BBC this morning.
C.S
Well that was another wide of the mark forecast on behalf of Carol and the BBC.
not a flake here, just plenty of heavy rain and a rapid melting of what snow we had last week.
Roll on summer and in the meantime i’ll file it the the same pile as all of the other let downs of this winter.

Well had a nice day in Summerseat/Ramsbottom today. Thankfully the rain stayed off all afternoon, and even saw the sun for a few minutes around midday. By the time I left most of the slush had gone except in shelter. Thankfully didn’t disrupt the ELR timetable.
Also @iand61 I think you can finish in the Europa league spots The way Arsenal are going.
Your quite low down there so no surprise that most of the snow had gone but up here it is still pretty deep in places and a lot of side roads are still tricky.
it looks like that’s probably it for heavy snow this winter although up here we seldom go through March and April without seeing at least a few snow showers but TBH all I want now is some sunshine and warmth to accompany the lengthening daylight.
as for Burnley’s chances of European football next season.
possible but we’ve a run of away games coming up and Leicester also have their eye on 7th so ask me again in a couple of weeks or better still in mid May.

I agree, this has caught me out a bit I know they said showers.... Ive just looked at the radar I use and its sitting right over us although it is easing here.
Whereabouts on the Lancs York’s border are you.

Should finish in the next 20mins.
Still plenty of snow up there?
Not a lot really but some decent drifts on the side of the road between Bacup and Burnley and behind the dry stone walls.
-
Looking at the radar I expect the snow to stop in the next hour but at the moment it’s still coming down pretty hard.
we’ve had a covering from it though which I didn’t expect after the dreariness of the last couple of days.
-
Heavy snow here now and starting to settle but it must be milder as a couple of days ago every last flake would have stuck.

Steady snow falling here now.

Hello rain, nice of you to come back again. We‘ve missed you...not.
Still pretty well frozen up here and a bit of snizzle overnight is stuck to the cars but i can see the gradual thaw and rain arriving today.

Last time was some of the strongest winds i’ve seen here for years, can’t see it being that bad but strong easterlies always seem to hammer us up here.
nice to see falling snow blowing about.
