  1. Thanks to one of our local weather forecasters for posting. Yes, it's been looking like rain for BTL and the area, with Swindon eastwards getting any snow - i guess the Cotswolds may have a chance of wet snow. The models have been consistently forecasting this for last 24 hours - i suppose some of us were hoping that the colder air with the precipitation might shift slightly westwards by tonite, but alas, not looking so.
  2. V.light rain here in NTH BTL. Guess temps have risen too much for snow.
  3. Just saw latest weather update on news24 and Darren Bett said staying cold right up until Xmas. But nothing really showing for us early next week in terms of snow. Tonight still looks like rain, followed by v.cold temps. I reckon the Cotswolds may get wet snow, but that band looks quite narrow, so only last an hour or so.
  4. Agreed Dogs. The trends seem to indicate a less cold spell coming to us just around Xmas, but you never know with this weather. The 'atlantic' doesn't seem that active at the mo. I feel there could be subtle changes in the model output over the next couple of days that could result in an extension of the cold for the West and maybe snow.
  5. Stopped now, but it's very cloudy and dark. Wouldn't be surprised to see some more flurries this afternoon, before tonight's precipitation. Snow or rain tonite? I know i do not want freezing rain - that is highly dangerous!
  6. Just started to snow here in Nth BTL. V.light stuff though. Only flurries, but didn't expect anything this afternoon to be honest.
  7. Falling snow, and depends on what city or postcode you've bet on.
  8. Alex Deakin just now on BBC1 - Cold, dry day, followed by rain for us, V.narrow band anyway so if it is snow prob only get an inch or so anyway. With the models looking as they are i reckon we'll not see any decent snow until the New Year.
  9. Just in from work and caught the news 24 weather forecast. Looks like Saturday night/sunday morn there's a chance of snow, although the graphics indicated rain for BTL and west, snow for more central parts of our area to the east of Bristol towards Swindon and down to Salisbury Plain and to the N.E. up in the Cotswolds. Wait and see i suppose
  10. Hope you're right KQ. 'Cause i'm getting fed up with this non-event for us in BTL and the West! All the action at the mo is happening on the SE England thread! BB, Stoke Gifford, Nth BTL
  11. Cheers Nick. Genuinely value your output. Maybe we'll get a real 'old-fashioned' blast in the New Year!
  12. OK. I'll keep an eye out for that forecast tonight, because i haven't seen one yet. The Beeb at 18:57 was showing nothing for here for next 3 days. Sorry to upset some people on here, but the models really are only trustworthy up to 48 hours in my view and i've been following on here for a few years now.
  13. The temps are a little colder than normal for this time of the year here in the West, but nothing exceptional. Would any of the 'experts' on the forum like to say why there's been a relative downgrade for now and into the weekend since the models were showing, say, a few days ago? Even the more insightful and knowledgeable guys on here were predicting a cold, snowy spell not seen in the UK for December, since Dec 81, but to be fair it's just a cold and damp period here in the West (and yes, i realise the East was always expected to get the major stuff). The models seem to be predicting the end of this cool spell, before any real cold has started.
  14. Well, just got in from work after a couple of pints of thatchers on the way home and looks like we're missing out - sorry to be a miserable old so and so, but this spell is a huge letdown IMO. The East will get a pasting tonite Doesn't look much for us in the West, even during weekend and then a predicted breakdown. The cold, snowy spell that never even occured - let alone a breakdown! Just noticed none of us has a 'location' showing - what's that all about?!
  15. Hmm! Possible undercutting low affecting the south on Monday according to main model discussion thread. But that's a long way off, as models a few days ago were predicting much better cold and snow for us over next few days. Little bit disappointed at the mo for West prospects, compared to my expectation levels a few days ago. But who knows??!!
  16. A right royal ramp by Rob McKelwee on BBC just now for the S.E. tomorrow and Friday But did mention everyone would've seen snow by end of weekend Then gave a wicked laugh about Monday, but didn't elaborate!
  17. Ooh! Thatchers rough draught - luverly!! Zider me up landlord!!
  18. Can't believe you didn't stay in the pub, downing a few pints of Thatchers!
  19. Monday looking interesting according to one of the guys in the Model Output discussion just now. I think there's more twists and turns to come yet - maybe all hope is not lost. I popped into the S.E. england thread and interesting post from Steve Murr (as usual) - albeit looking at S.E. - tomorrow parts of that area could receive a pasting !
  20. 18Z up to its old tricks again. Saturday night now looking interesting for us snow wise. Last night's provided us with excitement. I suppose it's best to discard it - pub run and all that!
  21. Just watching the 18Z - it's a shame that disturbance that runs thru' the S.E. tomorrow wasn't 70 miles west or so, 'cause we'd get a piece of the action!
  22. Hi, couldn't help but drop in on the Midlands thread as we're 50 miles south of you guys. Have to agree with your assessment here Shaun. I thought the block, cold easterly and then northerly were going to give us a taste of real winter - models have flipped in last 24 hours or so. A few days ago temps wre progged for freezing in day from now til weekend. Not now. And as for some of the comments in the main thread earlier this week comparing up and coming 'cold' spell with snow to Dec 81! Now that's funny!
  23. Well. i'm in the next area of BTL to Filton and there ain't no snow!
