  1. Hmm! Me and the wife are driving to Torquay tom morn for a long weekend break. Hope it's cleared by then near Exeter!
  2. Chucking it down now. But struggling to settle, even on cars! And that's the first thing it settles on, isn't it? Last night at 3.30am i looked out and it was a beauty. 3 inches, snowing heavily, magical colours with street lamps! Tonight? who knows?
  3. My post says "West". Have you been on the cider? I have! Got it from a mate in work who lives in Wedmore
  4. Yeah. Not settling at all here, but main band is now in somerset. However, latest BBC forecast seems to indicate we're on the edge for this one.
  5. Just watching BBC news weather forecast. Heavy snow tonight for somerset (bar west somerset), into Wilts, Gloucs, but BTL looked right on edge i'm afraid. South Wales not in snow picture, i'm afraid.
  6. Still mod snow but not settling; not even on cars! Last night settled straight away on every surface. Is colder air about to undercut and change this? Main belt will veer east north east i fear.
  7. Hi BB. It's definitely not as cold as last night. Our lying snow here was still thawing tonite at 8 o'clock. I'm convinced this band is going to veer off NE in next hour or so and the main stuff will miss us.
  8. Still mod snow here in nth btl. But unlike last night's first burst at 10 o'clock, it's NOT sticking. defo not as cold. If the cold air does not dig in soon i think it may be a non-event. Any thoughts guys?
  9. Moderate snow now in North BTL. Temps seem higher than last night. Not settling at mo.
  10. Just had a look at Meteox radar and i reckon the really heavy stuff is going to pivot east N.E. as it hits N.E. Bristol.
  11. Very light sleet here, in North Bristol. Is it going to just skirt here? Main band going into wilts and then to Central Midlands i wonder?
  12. Yes Steve. and most of the South west NW members were calling it right, like last night! The METO are the professionals getting paid to forecast!
  13. Yes WIB. And it's surprising how many of the more 'experienced' NW members in the Model Discussion thread keep knocking the GFS, but over the last few weeks it's been surprisingly accurate IMO.
  14. Did the NW site crash for the last 30 mins? I couldn't access. What's your thoughts on tonite? It just doesn't seem cold enough here in BTL tonite; snow still thawing and it's 8.30 Is the BBC forecast for snow to go into dorset, wilts, parts of glos still look accurate? BTL look like going to miss on that forecast
  15. Well, i'm about half mile from there and NO SNOW here at mo.
  16. It's funny how you mention dewpoints. I can't measure here, because i don't have the equipment. BUT what i do know is that the snow is still thawing and it's nearly 7 o'clock. The air here in North BTL is raw, cold, but not v.cold. It doesn't seem quite cold enough for any precipitation to fall as snow. Anyone else with any thoughts on this? Someone who's a bit more weather techie than me!
  17. Re my post earlier, Michael, he was spot on last night. But yes, i do agree about Beeb normally. I still think this is a nowcast event...radar watch time plus reports from our NW members further south, just like last night.
  18. Bristol extremely close to the snow - any slight variations and we could well recieve some of this.
  19. Bob (HTV West) says: Thaw happening, so ice. Tomorrow morn: Snow into Wilts; nothing for Somerset, Gloucs or Bristol. Calling rain for Sunday, sleet on hills. It's a 'no' event tonite then.
  20. Well, Bob crapton on in a mo on HTV West. he got it spot on last night.
  21. But there wasn't last night Andy. BBC weather at 6 o'clock had main snow in midlands and the Bristol area only having an hour or two of snow before turning to rain. The 10.35 national forecast on BBC1 then said the Bristol area was going to bear the brunt of the snow and that turned out pretty accurate. Another 'wait and see' event i think!
  22. Yeah. Saw the charts posted in the 'midlands and c.southern england thread'. So ignore my reply to Michael just now! Maybe we're going to get hit again; right in the firing line by the look of those precip charts
  23. Not in North Bristol at the mo, Michael. As for tonite's poss event i think we'll miss it as it travels through more central southern england and into London. Having said that i was wrong about last night. At this time of the day yesterday, i thought that the snow that eventually arrived last night, would be too far north for us! What do i know!!??
  24. I'll pass on tomorrow's snow thanks...off to the south coast for a long weekend break tom! Doh! You wait nearly 15 years for a decent few days of snow and some berk books a long weekend on the English Riviera
  25. Just thought i'd pop in to your thread TEITS. We have 4 to 5 inches of snow here in north BTL. Best snowfall since Feb 95 IMO. NOt an 87, 84, 81 or 78/79 event, but pretty good for the 'even larger teapot' - oops shouldn't have written that 'modern' comment :o And it's just started chucking it down again. Real surprise, after yesterday's projected track, but our local forecasters got it spot on!
