  1. Poor if not very poor charts. Would be a complete bust for our region if those came off.
  2. A much better forecast for our region although she is hedging her bets with the p word. TBH I think Louise is a bit of a mild lover so maybe not keen on forecasting snow?
  3. It’s Beach - the name refers to the sandy ground I believe rather than the trees!
  4. Yes, it’s a bit knife edge whether we get in on the real action. The main bands seem to sticking to the coast. MetOffice are more bullish than the BBC though.
  5. That will just be UHI effect. Get out into Epping Forest, even Chingford Plains will be colder.
  6. Just nav to the King’s Oak pub in Epping Forest. It’s there! IG10 4AE. But your map is right. Only thing is, that’s a west facing hill. I was looking at the OS map and wondering about Loughton Golf Course? Anyone tried it?
  7. Yes that was quite an event, 2 Feb 09 was another one where central London got smashed. Think there was one in 2005 too?
  8. Any news from the Croydon Borough? I assume the Army and the Royal Marines are on standby? @yamkin ??
  9. Models looking pretty good this evening for most of our region. Hopefully UKV has this right and members in more western counties will get in on the action too!
  10. Definitely 3 Feb 2015, have found it on my phone. It was bizarre, a really thin band of snow. Chingford Plains covered in the morning but there was nothing in Tottenham or in Chigwell as I recall: it was that thin a band! Think it was a Wash Streamer but can’t recall the set up.
  11. Question for @danm Do you remember the mini event of I think 3 Feb 2015? Was a really weird one that dumped 5-7cm across Chingford Plains in Epping Forest yet there was absolutely nothing east and west of here. I got into town to the office and there was absolutely nothing. Was that from a Wash Streamer?
  12. Eh? Millions of Germans are the edge of that snow band and many millions more completely outside it!
  13. GFS is better. We shall see. BBC will have to forecast this properly tonight I think. Be interesting to see where they end up.
  14. There's no doubt about it, this afternoon's models have been a downgrade for our region. Much of the precipitation shunted east and wasted by falling into the North Sea. Not a great turn of events.
  15. That's a bit better, but still only 3cm in central London. It could be at least double in places like Epping Forest I suspect. It's amazing how moderative UHI is.
  16. Yet again we see the extreme moderation of UHI in London. Not much in the way of lying snow on that chart.
  17. Walk it! It's a really nice walk in the snow and you can catch the tube back to Leyton!
  18. Extreme UHI effect shown clearly here – totals half in central London compared to bordering districts to the north!
  19. I think that's falling snow. From my own experience, High Beach at Epping Forest almost always gets 2x that at my house –– it's only four miles from me, and Chingford is already one of the snowiest districts of London. The moderation from UHI is extreme.
  20. Well there are usually country park /quasi-countryside areas within 5 miles of most areas of London.
  21. Horrible UHI effect over Greater London though, as ever. I do hope Londoners get out to Epping Forest and similar where totals will be 2-3x that in Zones 1 & 2.
  22. Superb forecast which explains the set up well without dumbing down a la the BBC, and much better graphics. ITV should just run these forecasts as is, and put the Beeb to shame!
