After a stall and some fluctuation the air temp is now -3.4c

-2.1c people are struggling to get cars up on the estates as the roads and pavements are like an ice rink.

Getting chilly now, just been out with the dogs Brrrrr.... -1.5c

Sub zero already, -0.3c under clear skies, could be a very cold night if the cloud stays away. I think they just manage to reach down into Lancs, always a good thing to see the dark blues over the UK

Some very cold -8/-9c upper air flooding back over the far north of the region for the next few days.

Uppers around 0 to -2c as the front hits with southerly winds swinging SW'ly, I can't see much if any snow falling to low levels.

Turned into a stunning winters day with plenty of sunshine which makes a welcome change, top temp this afternoon reached 2.6c but falling fast now as the sun heads toward the horizon. The Met warning for Friday sounds interesting - heavy drifting snow but this event will be a lot more marginal than recent days.

Got down to -2.7c overnight up to 0c now with a bit more cloud pushing up from the south and light ppn developing over Cumbria.

-0.2c everything freezing over, need ice skates outside and a chisel to get into the car!

Snowing heavy again here the band really pepping up over Cumbria and starting to lay over the thawed patches, south of the county has been hit quite bad as the ppn has just sat over southern Southern Cumbria for much of the day, Coastal areas seem to have done better with snowfall than inland locations but most have a blanket of snow! Chaos in the east of the county over the A66 which is blocked by deep drifts.

A66 on the Cumbria/Durham border! Still snowing here but only light, temp 0.5c. Looks like I'll have to have a drive out in the next few days when the roads reopen

We certainly aren't heading into a boring weather pattern I think into next week it won't be the ice & snow causuing disruption but rather damaging winds and heavy rainfall, some very disturbed charts right across the outputs. -
Looking forward to some Atlantic action into next week maybe even some half decent wind storms developing. Pinning all hopes on the potential cold spell through February to see if that can deliver something of note, most of the snow cover has thawed today down to about 45% at the most! Currently 0.9c and it's snowed all day to varying intensity although it may have well rained the good it's done lol

Snow cover getting less and less by each passing minute! Still snowing but nowhere near enough to replenish anything. 1.9c.

Still snowing here but it appears to be melting quicker than it's laying!

Temp up to 1.8c with noticeable thawing taking place! Waited ages for snow and it's melting already

Temp sitting around 1.0c with some slight thawing on roof tops and near walls etc, just started snowing again.

Wind getting gusty here and blowing the snow around.

Just listening to the local radio and the disruption is unbelievable especially in and around here over western areas. Carlisle to Skipton rail line is closed until they can get a snow plough on the line! Must be some large totals in places.
