  1. Clouded over again from the west ahead of the advancing weather front, temp fallen slightly 2.7c.
  2. Snowy weather on the way - http://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/features/21183498
  3. Temp climbed up to 3.8c, highest it's been for best part of a week.
  4. I guess it's a wait and see what falls from the sky event, whatever happens a rapid thaw will take place as the winds swing SW'ly and the uppers go into + values. Amber warnings now issued for more eastern parts - http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/uk/nw/nw_forecast_warnings.html?day=2
  5. The Braer Storm January 1993 was the most intense North Atlantic depression with a central pressure of 914mb, so it's getting close but not quite http://en.wikipedia....of_January_1993 BBC weather forecast for the 10th January 1993, very severe! http-~~-//www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZuqNJVFVznU
  6. Yes Peter going to be a big shock to the system! Definitely potential as we go through next week for some serious & disruptive wind storms and flooding.
  7. Met updated warnings - http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/uk/nw/nw_forecast_warnings.html?day=2 Still including all coastal areas within the warning area.
  8. Well it's been a long time since I was able to post charts like these!! Next week could be interesting, bring it on
  9. Think I'll let go of any hopes I had for tomorrow, if it snows then bonus but if it doesn't then I haven't set myself up for yet another disappointment! lol
  10. 6z NMM is also showing that rain will be falling from the sky for western parts of the region, not good! Anyway some significant wind events likely through next week, that'll suit me fine
  11. I think that it'll more likely be a rain or freezing rain event for those in the west & on lower ground but we'll have to wait and see.
  12. Met Office have issued yellow warnings covering the NW region for the potential snow threat during Friday afternoon, The weather action getting going after midday onwards or thereabouts. The further inland with a bit of elevation the better. http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/uk/nw/nw_forecast_warnings.html?day=2 Temp still falling here even though the suns out, -1.3c now, should be a cold day and even colder evening under the clear sky thats if it stays clear!
  13. Skies clearing here from the east resulting in falling temps and after a rise to -0.1c it's fallen back to -0.9c.
  14. 00z NAE progging some very heavy snowfall across the region during Friday especially over the central Lake District and Pennines, looks very disruptive with blizzard conditions and drifting.
  15. Once again the sheet of cloud has prevented any significant fall in temperatures, disappointing! Predictions of severe frosts and -10c aren't going to happen whilst much of the UK is shrouded in cloud, some very wide off the mark minimum temperature predictions. Currently -0.5c here after a low of -1.1c, Would have loved having clear skies overnight during this colder period giving bone chilling overnight minimums and ice days. The odd thing about this 'cold spell' is that it hasn't actually been that cold and it certainly won't be classed as anything memorable from an IMBY perspective, perhaps February can deliver something more noteworthy. Looking forward to some Atlantic action and wind events to push this boring cold grey weather away
  16. That low over the Atlantic is insane with sustained wind speeds around 90mph, can you imagine the chaos should it decide to pay us a visit! Plenty of weather action coming up with strong signals for intense cyclogenisis close to the UK, we could be talking disruptive developments happening within relatively short time scales.
  17. Nasty conditions as everything freezes over just dipped below freezing -0.1c with a few decent cloud breaks beginning to develop.
  18. Got a dusting from those snow showers they weren't heavy but enough to cover up some of the surfaces that have thawed out. Just need the temp to fall a fraction from 0.3c to preserve it.
  19. Yes everywhere bar Cumbria covered with an amber warning, thats fine as we'd have a red one
  20. Got me excited then! thought we'd been upgraded to amber lol
  21. Snowing quite steady here! We'll have a covering if it keeps up and the radar looks good.
  22. Light snow falling here but the old snow continues to thaw slowly, temp 1.9c.
  23. Some exceptionally low temps being recorded over the NE States in some cases twice as cold as your average deep freeze appliance near -40c, ouch!! The current weather affecting the UK is positively tropical in comparison. http://windmapper.com/NE/observations Check out Mount Washington obvs -37c with sustained winds of 70mph!
  24. Updated warnings for Friday - http://www.metoffice...Time=1359028800 The Met warning of heavy snow here is the kiss of death lol Got nearly 2 inches of snow on Monday which wasn't forecast so you can guarantee it will rain on Friday! If it comes off as written here then it would be a noteworthy event before it turns to rain.
