  1. Quite ironic that we wait all winter for something epic to turn up and now we may be waving goodbye to winter with the most frigid and severe spell of the last 3 months! Now all we need to see are these epic charts move ever closer towards T0, not asking much then given the last few months! Perhaps we'll get our long awaited rewards this time? We need something rather more special to deliver as we enter late season which is certainly what the ECM is showing and to a lesser degree the GFS, but both do look broadly similar which is a good sign. Don't put those snow shovels away just yet I feel sorry for Gavin having to wake up to charts like this.... Lets hope this evolution gains momentum as this is the best route for delivering deep cold, snow and ice days at this stage in the winter.
  2. Looks like a cold night ahead, currently -1.3c which is the coldest it's been for a while.
  3. I think you'll find thats the norm during February, being the last month of winter and all. I expect they'll be some very chilly nights under a slack flow. Certainly still feeling like winter.
  4. WOW I wouldn't want to come home! Looks amazing and all that snow, it's like a dream come true for most of us.
  5. I wish I lived in Lapland this morning http://www2.liikennevirasto.fi/alk/english/kelikamerat/kelikamerat_5.html
  6. GFS still progging 3 hours of heavy snowfall over Cumbria from 9am on Wednesday morning, I'll wait for the NAE & NMM to come into range as the GFS gets carried with such events.
  7. It's a dry morning here with no snow or rain, 1.6c with mostly overcast skies. Such a poor winter around these parts we just can't seem to get the goods even though it has come close at times, no deep cold & no ice days at all.
  8. Superb ECM so far if you like cold weather but more settled than recently, the next couple of frames could be amazing... http://www.meteociel.fr/modeles/ecmwf.php?ech=192&mode=1&map=0&archive=0
  9. Well the rain has stopped here and it looks like the front is losing intensity, 4.1c.
  10. 4.3c here now and it's wet, that horrible drizzly stuff.
  11. Overcast cool and damp here, 3.3c and quite misty as well.
  12. Only out to 12hrs on weatheronline. Edit T18 now
  13. Now convert that into snow, one inch of water = 10 inches of snow roughly.
  14. NAE does look good for the whole region on the accumulated ppn charts with 18mm near here by Monday morning. The other charts haven't finished coming out yet. How much of it will be snow though!
  15. Well the ECM doesn't really inspire much confidence with most of the ppn falling as rain, chart on the left is the air pressure + ppn and the other one highlights where snow is most likely to fall.
  16. 12z NMM accumulated ppn predictions by the time we reach Monday morning, also snow depth chart highlighting not much accumulation away from the higher ground.
  17. Talk about stating the obvious... If the ECM is being consistent then why is there a 30mb+ difference in heights over Greenland compared to the previous output? A pretty large swing if ever there was one!
  18. Wonderful once again the inevitable downgrades are occurring now we're getting nearer to T0, we knew it would happen!
  19. Updated yellow warning which may be updated to amber, 'accumulations at lower levels may exceed 10cm' Pardon me... http://www.metoffice...-2.54&lat=53.70
  20. Been dry all day here, cloudy but dry and feeling pretty chilly with a max of 4.3c, currently 2.8c.
