  1. Well it started to rain here before and now it's belting down with snow and blowing a gale! lol
  2. The rains turned back into heavy snow! Still thawing though but a real blizzard again.
  3. Merseyside has had the most snowfall in the whole region then? Even more than the fells round here! Hmmm...
  4. Turning more slushy on the ground as the thaw begins, good while lasted! Snow just turned to rain in a flash!
  5. Getting worse with some strong gusts really whipping the snow around, you don't half know about it when it slams into your face and stings! Temp up to 0.6c.
  6. Still coming down nicely here shame it isn't really heavy, temp sitting at 0.4c and dew point just below 0c.
  7. Positive upper creeping ever closer towards the western parts of the region.
  8. Managed to get a slight covering down but the the temp still rising, 0.5c now.
  9. Temp risen slightly from -0.3c to 0.2c dew point also on the rise! Stll -1.0c.
  10. Coming down heavier with bigger flakes, proper blizzard like conditions.
  11. The very low dew points are evident thats why the snow is so dry, mini blizzard here and if the flakes were bigger then it would certainly be impressive. The winds blowing the snow off the ground and off roof tops creating mini drifts all over.
  12. Proper powder snow this, blowing all over the place, temp falling nicely -0.2c now.
  13. It's very heavy but the flakes are pretty small and it's very dry and tending to blow around on the floor.
  14. Awesome video! Hopefully we'll have more of the same before winter is finally done with us.
  15. A slight dusting here but it's only been light and intermittent so far with little accumulation, need some heavier stuff! Temp 0.0c.
  16. More evidence on the table now to suggest we are heading for quite a significant cold spell as we move towards the back end of winter. ECM still looks fantastic even with some slight inter-run differences but it maintains the theme of blocking to out NW and seriously deep cold air heading towards the UK from the North Pole, UKMO also starting to look interesting and some good agreement with the ECM by T144. If we can establish the blocking in the right place then we may very well experience the coldest and snowiest weather of the whole winter, a big ask but confidence is steadily increasing for a notable wintry outbreak.
  17. Snow started falling here and settling readily, 0.3c dew point -2.0c, strong SE'ly wind.
  18. Quite a good signal from the Midlands northwards for a widespread snow event during Wednesday with expected depths generally between 2-5cm with the risk of 5-10cm the further north you are, especially with some elevation.
  19. The temp at Houghall County Durham on the 4th March 1947 was -21.1c from this chart. Daily maximums from this were between 0c and -3c over England and as low as -4c over parts of Scotland and Wales.
