  1. Quite a few incidents now on the BBC Cumbria travel page relating to the weather. The coast road in the SW of the county is now blocked by snow and other roads affected by panes of glass which have been blown out by the SE'ly gales. http://www.bbc.co.uk/travelnews/cumbria
  2. Really feeling cold now with the strong SE'ly wind and falling temperatures. Down to 2.5c here with a dew point of nearly -2.0c.
  3. Looks like a slight shift back N&E from the NAE compared to the last run. The front making inroads into Central Scotland by 00z Saturday. A memorable event coming up and a very rare one for this time in March! http://www.weatheronline.co.uk/cgi-bin/expertcharts?LANG=en&MENU=0000000000&CONT=ukuk&MODELL=nae&MODELLTYP=1&BASE=201303210000&VAR=prty&HH=48&ZOOM=1&ARCHIV=0&RES=0&PANEL=0&LOOP=0&INFO=0&WMO=
  4. Cold and frosty again this morning with the air temp just managing to dip below zero, minimum was -0.2c.
  5. The worse conditions will be over higher ground as usual but some surprises may occur even to lower levels due to evaporative cooling.
  6. Early yellow warning for the possible frontal snowfall on Friday & Saturday. Maybe upgraded to amber nearer the time. http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/public/weather/warnings/#?regionName=nw&from=rss&sn=DC993385-BF54-583B-256B-827C84AD4D74_1_NW&tab=map&map=Warnings&fcTime=1363651200
  7. -3.9c after a low of -4.7c, again beating any temp I recorded during the winter months. Extremely cold for March and you'd have to go back to the mid 80's the last time March was so cold. Yesterday has to be the best March day I've ever witnessed. The air temp stayed below freezing all day, the max I recorded was -0.2c which dropped to around -1c during snow showers (incredibly dry and powdery). At times the windchill was sub -10c and probably close to -15c in some exposed places, it really did feel extreme.
  8. 10.45am 11th March and the air temp is still below zero @ -0.7c.
  9. -5.5c here atm, colder than all 3 winter months,
  10. Woken up to a light covering of ultra fine powder snow and it's -5.4c, which is lower than any temp I recorded during the winter months.
  11. Quite windy but the temp still falls, -3.2c....Impressive Just shows how cold this air is!
  12. Hell it's cold! Got a dusting of powder snow from earlier with an air temp now of -2.6c.
  13. Just had another moderate snow shower (small flakes) and the air temp is sub zero now -0.2c with a dew point of -6.0c. Very dry snow and it blows all over then builds up against objects and in crevices.
  14. A very cold day by any standards but quite impressive for this time in March! 2.3c the high around 12.30pm, currently 0.9c with more light snow showers blowing over. Bitterly cold in the stiff easterly wind, feels severely cold.
  15. Bitterly cold wind with light snow falling here, temp 1.2c dew point -4c.
  16. Still looking at some of the best charts of the winter/spring with the added bonus of them being within touching distance and not post T300 !
  17. Has the ECM even updated as both Meteociel and Netweather charts still have yesterdays 12z run?
  18. What a beaut! You'd be talking bitterly cold with heavy blowing snow and even though it's March there'd be an ice day or two.
  19. Well it certainly wouldn't be feeling spring like! Could be some of the coldest nights of the year.
  20. Sub -12c 850's a bit further west on the 6z, could be some very cold spring lambs in the fields! Quite an impressive chart for the time year.
  21. Gorgeous morning again, got down as low as -2.4c around 6am. Hard to believe it could be the warmest day of the year!
  22. Brrrrr... Very cold this morning, -3.2c atm on what looks like being another glorious sunny day, perfect.
