Well the end of the cold spell is certainly going out in style! Not often Cumbria experiences full on blizzards like this, utter chaos in parts of the county.

Still full on blizzard conditions here, with a little bit more height it could have been epic.

A number of roads now blocked across Cumbria due to drifting snow, reports of abandoned vehicles and over turned lorries!

Pretty extreme I have to say! Heavy driving snow which has managed to put down a layer of slush and starting to build up on top of that. Temp falling 0.8c dew point 0c.

Snow coming down very heavy again with some big fat juicy flakes, just leaving slushy deposits unfortunately!

I'm liking the fact it's turning more to snow again as the main band gets closer.

The NMM wasn't quite so bullish about the snow as per the NAE for those further west.

Dew points also creeping positive from the west, dam it just when the heavier ppn was making landfall!

Warmer air coming with the second band, uppers getting close to 0c making it very marginal and we've just gone the wrong side here!
