  1. The ppn you see is associated with an area of low pressure which is going to develop E/NE'ly gales on it's northern flank over the north sea as it deepens.
  2. Yes on the radar it will appear to be moving west due to the cyclonic flow of the low pressure, the main bulk of the energy will track north up the eastern side of the UK, our region won't be without snowfall and it's looking good.
  3. Well done to the models for picking up western extent of the ppn, the area of low pressure now moving into SE England with the heavier snow which is going to track up the eastern side of the UK, light to moderate falls further west. Different to Friday as we haven't got the big cold blocking high pressure refusing to let the ppn advance north and east.
  4. Looking good for a few cm at least! The eastern side of the county may see many inches fall.
  5. Certainly potential for the whole NW region to get snow cover, further north you are the stronger the winds will be.
  6. Sure is, lets see if my snow dome can be penetrated! Most ppn charts look good for the whole region and more widespread than Fridays event. Strong winds and blowing snow possibly
  7. The ppn is expanding and moving closer to the region from the SE, it could turn into a half decent event (hopefully) lol Skies very dark here with the odd flurry of dandruff now and again, bitterly cold with an increasing breeze, temp sitting at 0.0c.
  8. Who said anything about 10-15cm? Perhaps the NE over the Pennines as the system tracks north.
  9. Looking at the latest model data then there is good chance of seeing some accumulations, be worth keeping an eye on the radar later to see how it's developing.
  10. Got a dusting of snow this morning and it's very icy, current temp -0.2c and feeling raw.
  11. West coast of Cumbria is probably the only green bit of land in the region visible from the cloud break, seems the cloud is being eroded now west of the mountains and the stars are still out, -1.3c Won't be long before it's overcast again no doubt. http://www.yr.no/sat..._animasjon.html
  12. It would be bone chilling if the cloud would do one! Gone from +0.7c to -0.9c in less than half an hour.
  13. Sitting under a big break in the cloud here, temp dropped like a stone to -0.6c, very icy now after the earlier ppn.
  14. What I find odd is how forecasts are going for temps to fall widely sub zero overnight which I'm sure they would but have they taken the very extensive cloud sheet into consideration? Not hard to look at a satellite image lol Temp is sitting at 0.9c here with small fluctuations now and again.
  15. All I was thinking whilst watching it was how much I'd love something of that magnitude to happen again! Be interesting to see how modern Britain would cope, obviously without all the fatalities but I'm afraid they would be inevitable. I've had a quick run through the synoptic chart archive for Jan & Feb '63 and they are astounding and beautiful! Some of them aren't unlike the epic charts we've seen crop up in the model outputs over the last 3 weeks or so, the difference is they never even got close, maybe one winter!
  16. The NMM would also tie in with Snowmad79's snow map, the heavier ppn does pull west over N england as the depression responsible tracks across over towards the Irish Sea.
  17. Persistent dandruff snow falling here leaving some surfaces with a dusting, 0.7c.
  18. Roughly between 2-4 inches around your area but don't read too much into these kind of charts.
  19. Interesting snow depth predictions by the end of next week, very much doubt these charts have any worth but it's nice to see Cumbria accumulating over 6 inches.
  20. If current model predictions are right then the whole region could see some snowfall during the course of Monday evening.
  21. NAE should be coming out now, I see NE England is covered by a warning Sunday for the snow, some of the outputs take a band of ppn over the whole region but we'll see!
  22. Gone very dark outside with light snow which is slightly larger than dandruff lol very cold with no rise above 1.6c today.
  23. Yes it could well be, seems to be making good progress! Snowing near Alston to the east of the county - http://www.bbc.co.uk/cumbria/content/webcams/nenthead_webcam.shtml
  24. Looks like a more organised trough feature pushing in from the east hopefully some of the energy can make it over the mountains!
