  1. What about before we get to that stage Gavin? We still have divergence within T72-T96 so until we get this crucial time frame nailed then looking at the outcome and where we go by the end of next week is rather pointless?
  2. Perhaps a slight exaggeration? But then again if the ECM verified..... http://www.huffingto..._n_2636323.html
  3. I'm quite pleased with the outputs this morning, still plenty of action over the next few days to keep tabs on without worrying about post T168+ These would do nicely, bitterly cold with outbreaks of snow and snow showers with drifting.
  4. A bit chilly this morning got down to -0.2c so not perishingly cold, high cloud slowly advancing in from the west ahead of that weather front which I expect will fall as rain away from the high ground, wouldn't rule out some wintry falls to lower levels later this evening though.
  5. Apart from the biting wind it's really nice late winters day with stunning sunshine, 5.3c but feels much lower factoring in the wind.
  6. Milder air really evident now as temps continue to rise all the way up to 6.7c!
  7. Very heavy snow falling, started as rain! Very windy as well Yes one of the best snow events in my living memory, apart from being snowed in at school!
  8. Temperature rising quite quickly and the wind has eased, 3.6c.
  9. Blustery snow shower moving through, like a mini blizzard then it stops! Temp fallen to 1.2c.
  10. No snow here overnight well none has settled anyway, 1.8c with still the very strong westerly winds gusting up to 50mph making it feel bitter. Another good covering out over Alston way, it was completely bare & green here yesterday - http://www.bbc.co.uk/cumbria/content/webcams/nenthead_webcam.shtml
  11. Things must be pretty bad on the motorway right now!
  12. 2.3c now, slowly does it! Feeling more like -10c in the westerly gales. Clear skies atm.
  13. Peak gusts so far today with quite a number of low level stations recording 70mph or higher. Certainly the windiest day of the winter here on the Cumbrian coast, for now anyway.
  14. Still slowly falling away the temp and it isn't recovering like it was earlier after the showers had passed, down to 2.5c now. Colder air now making it's presence known
  15. Heavy sleet with some snow flakes mixed in now, the wind is so strong that using the lamp post is useless! lol.... 2.7c
  16. Just had a heavy hail & rain shower, still very gusty and the temp really fell during that one and it's now 3.2c.
  17. A592 Kirkstone Pass is now closed in Cumbria due to snow, very prone spot though and quite elevated.
  18. Relentless gales and very heavy showers mainly of rain with some hail mixed in, temp 5.3c it does drop a degree or so during the heavier ppn but quickly jumps back up in between showers.
  19. Ideally you'll need to be under an area of more prolonged ppn/showers for evaporative cooling to take place and allow the ZDL to reach the surface, any snow away from higher ground will likely be brief and transient unless you are lucky enough to be under a streamer.
  20. Can't see much snow falling with temps ranging from 5-8c across the region atm, the strong wind straight off the Irish Sea really isn't going to help matters.
  21. Peak gusts so far today, an official gust of 70mph just down the road from here, certainly a wild day for many.
  22. Surprised there isn't a warning for wind over parts of NW England the gusts have been hitting up to 70mph in the last hour, nasty conditions.
  23. Real squally showers blasting through here producing rain/hail and very strong gusts over 60mph, roof tiles are bouncing and the chimney howling.
  24. Temp up to 7.2c here and just had a 66mph gust, it's not really fit out atm.
  25. Sure is wild, strongest winds so far this winter in fact. Very close to the coast here with a bit of elevation as well plus the house faces west and today we have severe westerly gales! Love it
