  1. Well so far we have had snow showers since 9.30am, but the the showers have been fairly light with one or two good showers. The sun in between has melted a fair bit of snow and tonight there is a very thin layer. Skies are clearing and I'm not hopeful of anymore. Someone pleae tell me Norwich/North-ish Norfolk are going to get some decent snow out of this. So far the snow we had in November is more than this.
  2. When you say Essex coast, is that the northern edge of the uppers (just thinking about us a bit further north in North Norfolk)?
  3. Agree. We are having showers few and far between with any slight covering melting in the sunshine. Looks like a band of not much runing from the north east coast of norfolk heading south west. Goodness knows why.
  4. Looking at the NW radar, precip is clipping north norfolk and south norfolk/north suffolk, Typical good old Norwich is slap bang in the middle of a dry bit! How!
  5. Had a few medium snow showers at 9.30am this morning, then nowt up to about now when there have been a few very light flurries. Sun comes out now and again, temp up to over 2c. So is there still worse to come (not that this is at all bad!)?
  6. So if we are looking at (fingers crossed, who knows, touch wood etc) in Essex, you could bargain on Norfolk (more north of Norfolk) being the same if not a tad more?
  7. Very cold in Norwich today. Temps struggled up to minus 1c but by mid afternoon were back down to minus 2c. However no snow. Booooo. Nice to see an ice day, first one I think round here over the past few weeks.
  8. I do not believe it - we may actually have a touch of frost in Norwich tonight! Anything to get rid of this endless cloud and temps above freezing. We even had rain today! I bet anywhere else in the country it would have fell as snow. Grrrr! I think we are in a bit of no-mans-land when it comes to winter - close enough to the coast that temps can stay higher than inland, yet far enough away to miss any costal snow showers. Anyway lets see what the next few days/weeks bring. I can't get a grasp of our prospects from the models so maybe just wake up, open the curtain with fingers crossed for some snow.
  9. Would people find it strange for it to be a balmy 3c here tonight? I was expecting a frost tonight but cloud cover is more than I expected so that is maybe why.
  10. Maybe the ramp levels could be attached to numbers of people viewing the model discussion threads. Something like this: 0-50 Summer, maybe a storm on the horizon 51-70 Autumn, getting windy 71-100 Did someone mention a frost? 101-150 Ooooh a hard frost 151-200 A snow flake over the highlands 201-250 Snow possible....but only just 251-300 Getting exciting now, snow possible anywhere at any time 301 upwards It is like 1962/3 all over again
  11. Whilst driving about this morning (7am ish) there was very light snow coming down. Nice surprise but probably a "blink and you'll miss it" shower. Temp was about 1c.
  12. Weird weekend for me - forcast said Saturday was going to be glorious sunshine and Sunday was going to be very wet. Yesterday was actually cloudy (afternoon was ok-ish) and so far today the weather has been quite nice with not a spot of rain.
  13. Ahh so as we get to a more reliable timeframe the event has been pushed back a bit? Makes sense - the rain we had today didn't really get going until mid/late afternoon when we were told a day or so ago it would be mid morning at the latest.
  14. Temps in Norwich have been creeping up tonight - peaked at about 8c and now down to late 7c - doubt any showers coming through will be anything but rain.
  15. I'm looking for a slighlty more featured weather station than my present Oregon system which is fairly basic with just an outside wireless temp sensor. I've seen some La Crosse models for about £100 with wind speed, but I'm wondering if I go for a better Oregon model I could still use my sensor. Is there much difference between La Crosse and Oregon in terms of quality?
  16. After my earlier report of rain starting in Norwich, that stopped and not much since. I'm hoping this stuff will move up the central part of the UK and miss eastern counties. Not good for thoses parts though with the recent downpours.
  17. Just started to rain in Norwich, but nothing much. Windy though with lots of small twigs falling from the trees. Very Autumnal!
  18. --> QUOTE(Paul B @ 9 Feb 2007, 09:47 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Which local weather was that? I don't see much happening for Norfolk or Suffolk especially I'm afraid. It was on one of the Look East bulletins this morning. Looking out of the window at the sunshine I find it hard to believe too!
  19. Whats the story with East Anglia today? Local weather this morning say sleet and snow moving in later, becoming persistant and continuing into the night. Anyone confirm this could happen?
  20. All we have had is some white rain that didn't stick, didn't last long and is now starting to dry up a bit. This event went north too quickly for us and not far enough east. What a difference a few miles makes! Can anyone suggest a suitable snow dance? What do I wear?
  21. TEITS you are one lucky man! Afraid that snowman I promised you isn't going to happen! Snow all around and all I get is a few flakes. Enjoy it, kick back with a cuppa and revel in that fluffy stuff!
  22. That is it my friend, its the best and only we will get today. I feel sad really! It only flippin snow but it would have been nice to some sort of covering.
  23. Another dissapointing event for me here in Norwich. Nowt. Mother Nature can be cruel to us snow lovers in Norwich!
  24. TEITS, typical the models are showing this northerly track as usover in snow-less Norwich are likely to see little, if any snow. If only the models could show it moving more east as well I'd feel happier!
