Amazing here in Norwich - heavy snow for an hour or so now. Falling on frozen ground and some remaining snow from yesterday. This is the best snow we have had in the past few days. I'll pop some pics up in a mo - they aint brill but you'll get the idea.
Anyone know if Norwich will see much snow today/Sat/Sun? We had a bit more over night but not enough to give an even covering on the grass and pavements/roads almost no snow now.
So what is going on in North-ish Norfolk (well Norwich)? Temps up to about 5c, a bit of hail first thing then sunshine. Have we missed the snow then? ;-)
Ooooooooooohhhh yes, me me me me me me me me me me me me After last winter debacle where you could slice a bit of cheese the cut off of snow around Norwich was so sharp and outside of this it was like a winter wonderland..this winter......come on winter......
Rain in Norwich getting a bit heavier now. No snow or sleet mixed in with it. My concern is that tonight when temps drop this wetness will cause extensive ice - I know snow may not be much better but I find walking in snow a lot easier than on ice.
OK, fingers crossed. I must admit the clouds don't have that orange tinge to them that I always associate with snow clouds. Or am I barking up the wrong tree! Another old wives tale perhaps. Like my mum would always say a day or two before snow that she could smell it in the air - I reckon that was just the cold digging in.
For someone who has picked up this thread at page 11, is there anyone who can do a quick summary for someone (me at least) who lives in Norfolk and wants some.....SNOWWWWWWWWWWW?
Difficult to predict isn't it - here in Norwich we can be too far inland for coastal snow, or too near the coast for inland snow. In that last big snow event we had earlier in the year there were some sat pictures which showed a clear line where the snow bordered Norfolk with a fair few inches and we got nowt.
Fingers crossed the easterly will bring convection in from the north sea as temps are high and Norfolk will get the lions share.
Three hours of snow in Norwich:
Sticking to the cold stuff but paving doesn't have much. Temps are still over 1c and snow now getting lighter. Another case of "snows at night then come by the morning".
Been snowing quite heavy in Norwich now since about 6pm, nice covering on the "cold" things (cars etc) and now the path is starting to snow up nicely. Wonder how long this will keep up - going to need a few hours for any decent covering as the temp is still up to just under 2c.
Looked out the window at 5.30am and there was a covering of snow. Nothing much, maybe a tissue paper covering and enough for a snowshrew. About 8.00am it was snowing a bit but now the sun is out and snow melting very fast. Nice to see it though.
