  1. Evening all and hi to the Norfolk(s)! I live in one of those zones that's too far inland for coastal snow and too close to the coast for inland snow. I'm hoping this event will cover both bases. Well a man can dream!
  2. Oh aye, par for the course! Couple of years ago we were the only green bit in a country blanketed by snow. The satellite picture was amazing to see. Anyway tonight we have 1c and rain in Norwich.... will be interesting if it freezes later.
  3. Raining in Norwich, started with some very, very light snow - sort of stuff blowing around in the wind but it could have been start of the rain. Anyway a difference from last night when we had some really beefy snow showers. I don't think our PPN tonight will turn into full-blown snow and if it did it's too wet to stick around for long. Here's looking to next week!
  4. Black skies building over Norwich and the wind is picking up but no rain.....yet!
  5. Snow in North Norwich, mixed in with some wet snow/sleet, but there is more snow than mushy stuff - in the gusts of winds it's really dancing around in the light - very pretty (if wet and cold!).
  6. Hmm, so, Norwich....too far east, too far west. Funny place for these snow events. Any fellow Norwich dwellers looking forward to something, anything?
  7. So looking at charts tonight, the snow will be spreading from the west > east, so what are the chances of Norwich getting some really good snow tomorrow? My concern is the spread will be slow so what snow we get will be short lived as Sunday morning progresses. Thoughts any fellow Norfolk, er, folk?
  8. We had this in Norwich a couple of years ago when the press published that lovely picture of the UK, no cloud cover and just white snow for 99%......except the top right hand corner of east anglia where Norwich is, which was green. Amazing that we had a dusting when lots of the UK were buried under the stuff. I always think Norwich is a funny place for snow - sometimes too far inland for coastal snow, sometimes too far east for inland snow. Ah lets see what the next few days brings!
  9. Well last nights flakes amounted to nowt, well I lie - there may be a flake left on the lawn somewhere! However the cold weather is laying a nice surface for snow to stick to, should we get some in Norfolk over the next few days - I always worry when temps have been mild and then a sudden cold snap, that the top layer of the ground doesn't have time to cool and allow snow to lay, but at the moment even during the day we are only just above freezing so all good. Anyone want to stick their necks out and guess at what Norwich would see, snow wise, over the next few days?
  10. We got snow in north Norwich - nothing much, just that light stuff that blows around in the wind, but the first snow of 2012 I've seen! wooow. Another billion trillion flakes and I'll be able to make a snow gerbil.
  11. Still dry in Norwich, can't remember when it last rained and now having to water the garden as some plants starting to wilt. Temps today "only" 18c and sunny compared to yesterdays 26c ;-) Never remember it this good in April.
  12. A nice wintry mix in Norwich today - bit of wet snow, little balls of snow etc. Breezy and cool at about 2c. Local forecast shows snow showers for next 18-24 hours and back to -8c overnight on Christmas day. Not much of a warm breakdown yet then.
  13. Lidl are doing a £39.99 weather station from the 16th Dec with rain and wind sensor.
  14. It was snowing at 7am and hasn't stopped since in Norwich - been getting a bit heavier every hour. Sticking to grass etc but roads just wet, maybe turning slushy as the snow persists.
  15. Really tipping down with rain in Norwich - very heavy. Some wet snow mixed in earlier but nowt else I fear. Hey-ho, winter ain't over yet!
  16. Been snowing in Norwich since about 8am through to about 2pm - non stop, but sometimes fairly light and other times heavy. However nothing has stuck but it is cold and breezy outside and not nice. Still, a lot more snow than I though we would see. If we have a freeze overnight then any snow tomorrow morning should stick nicely.
  17. This morning I had to clear about 2cms of snow off the car - the wind had blasted snow onto every panel - amazing really considering this was a small event as such. Roads were very slushy too. A nice end to the cold period - wonder what mid/late Feb will bring?
  18. A nice layer of snow this evening - I would say today has been better for watching falling snow than the last big event as then most snow fell overnight and I didn't see it.
  19. Has been some really beafy snow showers today - car and lawn got a covering but nothing like previous weeks. Heck, better than nowt for us snow lovers. And now the Meto warning too!
  20. Fantastic snow in Norwich - big flakes, now starting to settle, very windy too! Didn't expect this much today.
  21. Just started to snow in Norwich - looks failry wet snow so maybe more on the cusp of sleet but still seasonal!
  22. Getting heavy snow now, starting to stick to cars and roads increasingly slushy looking. Any ideas how big a band of PPN this is going to be?
  23. Snow getting a bit heavier now - this is south/south east-ish Norwich.
  24. Thawing continuing in Norwich - not sure if temps got below freezing last night, but before bed and when I woke up temps were just below 2c. Snow showers on and off today but the thaw has taken them, plus more of the laying snow. Notice the weather warnings have gone too so fingers crossed for the next wave of snow!
