The Tall Weatherman Just emailed my farmer friend up near Skipton. He tells me of a tremendous storm not seen for many a year. Mostly constant sheet lightning but extreme rainfall and hail. Thinks there could be some flash flooding. I asked about the wind. Prior to storm, wind gusty but now flat calm. This storm comes after a fairly dry May and warm one at that.

A bigger tornado formed earlier over the eruption site in Iceland🙂

meanwhile back home,...still waiting for a storm, there has been quite a few of them in NW England and Wales and currently still going strong in NW England, not to mention Scotland too

some developments to my south just west of Nottingham but i am not hopeful that a storm will reach here but ya never know, would need the welcome rain though to water the garden.

So annoying how organised the storms are now, yet south Cheshire got nothing earlier. It's like they were organised across Wales in a big zone and fizzled and reignited further north east

summer blizzard Can see the lightning from that storm, too far east here for a direct hit though. Still hoping the stuff near Sheffield lights up, but I doubt it.

cheese  We always brew stuff for Leeds or Doncaster so as soon as it leaves here expect lightning to start.

Unfortunately the more easterly line of storms that would of hit Birmingham and surrounding areas fizzled as it got here, ended up with just a few convective drops, a couple more cells developed after too but didn't hit either. But all is not lost as still got to see a number of flashes and heard quite a few rumbles with a decent view of the structure from the storm that was just west of here. Clouds seem to be bubbling again, maybe as the air cools is helping this, wonder if a few more can pop off, probably not though.

Gutted that we missed out on anything interesting today here, but I guess we weren’t in the high likelihood area to begin with. It’s still ridiculously muggy feeling here 🤢🤮

RobR of course. It happens every single time here without fail. Storms approach, fizzle out, move off and then reignite and become monsters once they have moved away properly from our area.

Quite an awesome cell passed over East of Glasgow around 8.30pm.  Extreme levels of precipitation, hail and frequent lightening.  Passed S to N in around 30 minutes.  Best I've seen here in a couple of years, easily. Screenshot below.  Don't know if this would qualify as a supercell or not but winds really picked up.

Anyone notice that continuous back building cell west of Stirling? I can imagine there be serious flooding issues up there at the moment, especially near hilly areas.

Wade Dang, you’re right, that is a LOT of rain over a couple of hours, maybe a month’s worth
