You don't need to mention the year if you don't feel comfortable in doing so, but otherwise the title is self explanatory.  🙂

Here's mine (summer 1991):

June - A very poor summer month as it was cool, wet and dull for much of the time with sunshine hours 79% of the average.

July - An improvement to the previous month and quite changeable overall, with the hottest day of the year at 32.1°C in Cromer Norfolk on the 11th.

August - By far the best month of the summer that year with it being warm and dry. There were thunderstorms at the beginning of the month with localised flooding in some areas.

Not difficult to guess...

June: cold, wet and exceptionally dull

July: very cool, very wet and dull, but the sunniest month of the summer

August: very cool, wet and dull.

Only one month in this year was sunnier than average, and it also happened to be the wettest month ever recorded at Heathrow.

I'll make mine a guess (for fun, not because I'm hiding my age!)

Here's the Heathrow stats for June, July and August of said year.

Not a summer for the record books but a very average summer in many ways. Each month had a heatwave of at least 32C somewhere in the UK, there were some big storms at times such as June 26th, July 3rd/4th and August 9th. A summer I'd be very pleased with as it was a very un-extreme summer.

Not sure about Summer. And sadly it’s too late to ask.

Then again. I was reminded quite often by my parents about the Lancashire Winter of 1962 and 1963.

LetItSnow! Looks like 2001? A very standard British summer.

1960, Apparently it was exceptionally wet, especially in the South West.

Now, why doesn't that surprise me? 🤔

Not a great summer for much in the way of dryness. Might have enjoyed the August for the thunderstorms though but way too much rain. The wettest August since 1956, most thundery August since 1960, and out of any month, June 1982. Augusts have been largely mediocre to poor since 2004 funnily enough apart from 2022 and perhaps some of 2020.

2003 and we all know how great of a summer that was. The reason the summer was good because I was born in that year, so you should all thank me for that year being good if you were alive then that is. 👋

Metwatch Was just thinking about that thread earlier with it being 20 years. A funny summer. Summer 2020 was very, very similar with identical CETs funnily enough. Even the autumns weren’t a million miles apart. Though January 2021 was far better than January 2005 so the similarities ended soon.

B87 Yes, I was born in February 2001. Summer 2001 seems decent.

I was born in the summer of 85 and by all accounts it was poor one, the next two was as well. My mum wrote in a picture album of me that it's not stopped raining since I was born haha. My dad was born in 46 and a shame he was only a baby during the historical winter that followed so wouldn't have remembered it.

Wade I remember that summer very well. I just left primary school and was looking forward to starting at the "big school". I also went to Drayton Manor theme park with the family during the summer hols.

I think I can safely say without giving away my age: not great, not terrible either. Better than 1956, worse than 1976. 😉

Summer8906 Maybe I'll start it! I've got some ideas for fun weather game threads. Guessing games, fantasy years etc. This site needs some fun threads.

cheeky_monkey Ah right, I've not looked in the lounge very much. Seriously I and quite a few others by the sounds of it would be interested.

Thinking of weather years particularly, so I guess it could go in the Historic Weather section?
