Been a clear, bright, and sunny morning here in Crewe. Clouds been slowly approaching from the east mainl;y in the last half an hour or so, and finally now at 11:55am the sun is now shaded by cloud. Congleton/Buxton would look to be the east/west limit for any snowfall so far. Buxton reporting 1cm as of 11am at the Harpur hill weather station.

I very much hope to be able to transfer a report from here to the next sub-forum soon :D

Regards,

Emlyn

Its slowly darkening up now (take a look on the cam). Looks as though Aycliffe may be getting a shower (just on the left above the roof on the cam image). Don't think Paul Tall's around to confirm it at the moment though.

Got a new weather station for Christmas but not set up yet, so no detailed info or accurates temps etc yet.

Overnight got an inch or so of lying snow, I think from heavy showers after 7am. Mostly melted now from the roads after no snow for a couple of hours, but still a covering on grass, trees and shed roofs. We seemed to have more than in the centre of Southend, as my wife said conditions were easier there when she had to drive our daughter to work an hour ago.

An amazing day cloud-effects wise in Cleadon today- all sorts of "snow trails", snow-fog effects, cumulonimbus towers etc. In many respects, just like the easterly incursions that I fondly remember from the winters of 1993/94 and 1995/96, and also around New Year's Eve 1996.

The main difference, however, was that none of the snow settled, and the showers were of 5-10min duration, whereas the earlier aforementioned spells featured 20-30 minute showers at times. Not that it would have been of any use, because temps were too high.

To be fair, I didn't predict any lying snow here for today, so I can't say that the easterly has disappointed yet. It will disappoint if nothing accumulates tomorrow either, though.

ok i was driving eastward along the A39 from between Bideford and Barnstaple at about 3:45pm and all of a sudden I entered a SLEET or HALE shower (well it was somewhere between the two) it was very localised. Mostly SUNNY with very light SHOWERS and some areas of dark cloud. It was also quite chilly with a little bit of wind by the sea. :)

and the weather boy has a thick coat on, and his umbrella with him

The rest of the data I don't quite understand yet.

Oh, and its been snowing.

I can 2nd that. At football this afternoon it was bitter, the wind just didn't stop blowing and it went right through every layer (6 :) ) of clothing. A few snow flurries and some sunshine. Max of a mega 1c.

Now is cloudy, breezy and flurrying nearby according to a mate, 0c.

Dry sunny day with variable amounts of cloud, max around 5.5c.

Currently 2.2c, 82% humidity and steady pressure of 1021mb. Clear skies - would have thought it might have been a bit colder as a result.

Icy day in the Highlands today. Started with eastern coastal fog at 0C, went west to find blue skies and similar temps on west coast, not rising above 1C all day. Returned east to temps below 0C after dusk. So first 'ice day' of the winter. Have to say though that although December has been chilly, it's not been unusually cold and there's been less snow on the hills than in previous years, even milder ones. Damn easterlies!
