With the pumped up Atmospheric stream pummelling CA, this week and copious snow to the Sierra Nevada mountains. Red Peak in Yosemite is forecast to see 153" of snow in the next 5 days, and 23.25 feet in the next 10 days.

New York City has broken the record for the latest ever measurable snowfall.  The previous record for the latest ever snow fall was January 29th 1973.

An official snowfall must have at least 0.1 of an inch on the ground.

It’s been a rather benign winter bookended by cold weather. Currently mid minus 20’s and nighttime lows in minus 30’s. 

Edmonton currently has a cold weather warning for wind chills in the minus 40’s.

spring is but a month away..so i can deal with it..if it was the end of Nov then i wouldn't be happy

if i’m right in the limited data i’ve seen i think i’m right in saying it’s been a very warm winter in the east but a colder one in the east. makes sense with the atmospheric rivers and stuff

its been a pretty average winter here..we had two very cold spells early in the winter ..one in the first week in Dec and another in the week running up to Xmas..since then its been much of a muchness..we had a first proper snowfall since Mid Dec this weekend gone..overall its not been as cold as i thought it would be given the triple La Nina

Portland in Oregon was only forecast a 10% chance of an inch of snow but received one of it's heaviest one day falls ever. Just goes to show it's not just in this country where forecasting snow is extremely difficult.

Forecasters predicted a trace of snow, then Portland set an 80-year record. What happened?
