"There is no comparison," said meteorologist Nicole Ferrin. "We’re two feet over our last record."

This is a very good example of climate change. This now annual flooding only started in 2011, when what was previously ice turned into a Summer Lake. Once it fills due to extreme rain and ice melt, it pours down the glacier overwhelming Mendenhall Lake and river. This is by far the worst flood....yet.

My son who lives in Vancouver sent me these pictures of the smog from the Kelowna bush fires that blocked out the sun and coastal range mountains yesterday over NW parts of the city. He reports that you can smell the fire and the air quality is terrible. The slack pressure system over Southern BC has allowed the smoke to drift out of the interior towards towards The Pacific.

Totally agree. I used to not really mind the cold til it hit about minus 20. Now its probably minus 15 that gets me.

But minus 40 is just painful. Dry air or not. I can physically feel the body slow down, stiffen and just hurt.

It's not forecast to get any warmer than minus 10ish all next week. Mind you after this week it'll feel positively tropical.
