 Polar Maritime Brilliant thanks mate! I’ve been and got myself a camera tripod ready! I’ve got a nice North facing garden ready! A trip to Norway needs to happen within the next 3 years maximum! Would love to know how to go about it!

It would take quite something to beat last nights display here in West Cumbria.

I went only 2 minutes up the road to a relatively dark area around 10.30 and it was already visible by eye. An hour later and  red green and blue were all visible doing their stuff!!

So anyone up for round 2 ? I've heard there may be another display this evening with the potential for it to be as strong as last night, does anyone know if this is likely or just hype? I can't imagine a repeat of last night, it was totally insane.

Having been out with the family enjoying the lovely weather, I've not had a chance to start processing all of the images I captured from last night, not looking forward to it as there are around 3000+ raw files to edit and convert into jpegs hopefully the time lapses will be worth it once it's all done. 

Here is a short automatic time lapse from my other camera, the camera did all the hard work on this one. thank god

It was so bright towards the end, you can see the whole landscape being lit up.

 Southern Storm incredible to think that was as far south as Dorset...i relly hope for something tonite...even if as quarter as good it will be the first time in my life (as with many others i suspect) that i would have witnessed something so special...annoyed that i completely forgot about last night even though i saw about it happening earlier in the day...will hope for the best and that this android phone camera will pick up anything that does happen...look forward to seeing your other pics...

 Fen Wolf You should be okay from 11pm onwards under any dark skies looking north, the main limiting factor tonight will be the weather and slightly lower impact forecast (currently at KP6) but things are due to pick-up again before the solar-storm begins to subside throughout tomorrow.

I don't think its supposed to be anywhere near as powerful is it and not as far south tonight? Will keep an eye out but can't see it being like last night again but here's hoping!  Was a truly magical experience and also my 3rd child smiled for the first time yesterday too (2 months old) so it was quite the day!!

No reds tonight its dropped off alot to earlier today..
