X1.0 flare around 1540z today. Looks very likely to be earth-directed.

1700 solar flux reading 121.6, highest of the cycle so far, though this may be flare-enhanced.

I assume that the timing above is US (UT).

That should make it around 21:00 our time?

@spacewxwatch

Don’t be fooled—the forecast is right on with the anticipated shock arrival and it will take a few hours to start seeing the geomagnetic activity ramp up, buying some time for those in the U.S. Best chances will likely be early after sundown rather than late

Quick look at the solar wind is showing particle densities above 30+ particles/cubic cm (orange line), a good sign that something is on the way. It appears densities have dropped off momentarily and the magnetic field has "opened," time will soon tell if this is the CME shock.

Looks increasingly a bust.

Unfortunately the media coverage on social media has hyped this up, so they are going to be a lot of disappointed people.

As it was clear last night I decided to go out about 1am untill 3am. Only peaked at KP4 so didn't see anything.

Saw a few meteors, one was moderately bright a Taurid.

Took this with my pixel 4a on a tripod. Edited this slightly in phone.

AURORAS OVER ICELAND: Last night (Oct. 30th) on the south coast of Iceland, Christopher Mathews was waiting for the CME to arrive when, suddenly, the sky filled with auroras:

I saw a bit of airglow from my vantagepoint at the Roaches but nothing in the way of any Aurora, watching all the spaceweather apps hoping the kp would be on the climb every hour that passed but it only got up to around 5.4 for the Peak District and we'd have needed at least a minimum kp of 7 to see anything before the clouds rolled in. Saw a few meteors and Orion rising so it wasn't a completely wasted night with the added bonus of having a extra hour lie-in this morning.
