I tried to see this tonight but too many humans with too many bright lights.  I cannot wait to get up into the deep North to find my peace

I have photos of this but my eyes do not pick up the colours sadly.

How far north do i need to be to see this with naked eyes and colours?  Is it likely going to peak later or was the peak earlier?

Some photos that need to be brightened at some point because my camera makes everything a bit darker on it. Tried with the car lights one but facing SE it was unlikely.

Edit : Brightened them and added a few more from my phone.

It's sod's law I go to bed at 8pm on one of the best Northern Light evenings in recent years 😄 and even S.T.E.V.E. made an appearance, if I can find any consolation it's that this part of the NW was clouded out by residual showers so seeing anything under the dark skies away from the lights of Manchester/Sheffield would have been minimal.

Hopefully the next few days ahead bring more opportunities.

For an idea of what's likely in the next few days you can check Spaceweather.

It's possible there will be more Aurora over the winter, as solar maximum is forecast within the next year.

Nothing here tonight but managed to get a glimpse of some colour between the clouds last night.

Still picking up the Aurora but it's subtle.

Great photos and footage by all but it may be hard to believe but the photos of the recent display are still not on the scale of the early April 2000 display  that I witnessed. So fingers crossed if we get an early April 2000 type display.

March/April next year, although aurorae can happen any time, they are more favourable around the equinoxes, so fingers cross that for a truely great display.

Nice picture on todays Meto deep dive of the S.T.E.V.E., fascinating stuff.
